J. H. Seid shipped some hogs
to Lincoln Saturday morning for
exhibition at the state fair, going
with them. Ole Roberts also
went along.
Louie Kerker started for Des
Moines, Iowa, Friday morning of
last week, to visit relatives.
B. Stroble, one of the old time
merchants of Brownville, was a
Nemaha visitor Monday.
About 35 ' Nemahaites went
from here to Lincoln on the
excursion Tuesday morning.
Willard' Dressier came down
from Omaha Saturday and visited
his parents until Monday afternoon.
The Epwoth League will hold
services at the Methodist church
Sunday night, beginning at 7:80.
There will bo no proaching as
the pastor is attending donfor-
onco.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. Allen,
who have been visiting in New
York state, returned home Wed
nesday. They certainly had a
good time as they only expected
;o be away a month when they
started.
Goo. R. Lindsoy and Dicky
Morton wont to Otoe county last
week to see about renting a
farm. George rented an oighty
one mile from Syracuse. Dicky
made preliminary arrangemohts
toward getting a farm.
Will F. Keeling wont to Lin
coln Tuesday to greet Bryan and
incidentally to buy his stock of
holiday gotids and soo tho state
fair. Mrs. Keeling and W, G.
Maxwell aro looking after tho
business during his absence.
Charley Howe and Lester Rus
sell started for Grand Junction,
Colo., Tuesday, to look at the
country.
Miss Vera Anderson of Auburn
came to Nemaha Saturday am',
is visiting her friend, Miss Bessie
Dressier.
Mrs. G. W. . Hawxby hasn't
been in a very good humor lately
and we can't blame her. She
had about 200 nice young chick
ens and some one stole all but
about thirty-of them. They also
took most of the old ones.

The passenger train was two
hours and a half late from the
west Tuesday afternoon on ac
count of a crippled engine.
Miss Grace Paris started for
Wenatchee, Wash., Tuesday, to
resume her duties as teacher in
the public schools at that place.
J. I. Dressier and wife are
among the many that are attend
ing the state fair this week,
going up on the excursion Tuesday.

Miss Rosa Munn of Steamboat
Springs, Colo., who has been
visiting J. I. Dressier and family
went to Shenandoah, Iowa, Mon
day, to attend school.
Nate Sedoras and wife from
Brownville spent Sunday with
E. Crother and family. They
brought Glendyn home who had
been visiting them for several
days.

begin school on the first day. It
is better for the individual pupil,

Alf B. Kinton and wife went
to Peru Saturday and visited
Earle Fisher and family over
Sunday.
Mrs. R. E. Bucher, who has
been visiting at Oregon, Mo.,
for two weeks, returned home

Mrs. Eli Knapp is visiting her
parents, Hon. V. P. Peabody and
wife, while Efi is attending the
state fair.

John P. Flack and his grandson

been visiting her sister, Mrs. E.
E. Hill, for some time, returned
to her home at Filley Saturday.
T. J. Rumbuagh, who has been
at Republican City for severa
days, has bought a piece of land
four miles from there and wil
try farming.
Forrest ("Pat") Hoover has
bought the interest of A. M
Cross in the fruit farm of Hoover
& Cross, and the firm is now
F. E, Hoover & Son.
J. W. Wolfe told Ed Knapp to
drive down to his place Monday
and pick what peaches he wanted
to put up, and of course Ed ac
cepted the invitation.
Tho Nemaha schools will have
a change of teachers in all de
partments this year. Tho prin
cipal is J. E. Gibnoy of Jfilkhorn
Tho intermediate teacher is Miss
Ella Bellas of Auburn, and tho
primary is Miss Lillian Neal of
Peru.
Marshall Webb started for the
state of Washington Tuesday to
visit relatives and friends. His
son, Delbert, is out there and
appears to like the country, as do
all the former Nemaha citizens.
While John M. Chirk was west
last week he bought Todd and
Daisy a nice little Shetland pony,
shipping it in with the cattle. It
weighs 460 pounds. It is broken
to ride. Todd had it in town
Saturday afternoon and won the
hearts of many of the little folks
by letting them ride on it.
