ing ticket was nominated:

of Peru.

of Auburn and Frank Keith of
Brock.
County Commissioner John
Demaree of Auburn.
Delegates were elected to the
state, congressional and float

was disappointing to the leaders
only about 25 being present.
The ladies aid society of the
Christian church had a dinner at
the home of Mrs. C. M. Thomn
son Thursday, and as the editor
is an honorary member of said
society, duly elected and quali
fied, of course he attended the
dinner. It was the kind these
ladies always get up, and was
hard to beat anywhere. The
only thing that embarassed the
aforesaid editor was that he was
the only man present. But he
managed to hide his embarass
ment long enough to eat a hearty
dinner.
Sunday morning E. H. Knapp
drove a young gentleman out to
the poor farm and introduced him
to R. I. Brown as Mr. Smith
from Missouri, who wanted to
look at Mr. Brown's farm with a
view to purchasing it. Mr.
Brown talked to him about the
farm awhile, and then Ed told
him he had better shake hands
with his brother. The young
man was Clyde Brown, a younger
brother whom Bob had not seen
since tlje younger man was a
little fellow except last year
when he was back to his old
home in Ohio, and then he did
not fairly get acquainted with
him. The young, man lives near
Roseville, Ohio. He is only 22
years old. He will visit here for
awhile. It was quite a joke on
Bob, He intends to get well
enough acquainted with him now
so he will know him the next
time he meets him. I

What is the matter with our
Nemaha party prohibitionists?
We have been told how many
there were and how enthusiastic
they were, and yet Dr. Keeling
was the only one from Nemaha
that attended the county conven
tion at Auburn Tuesday. If our
advocates of woman sufTraere
don't attend to voting any better
when they have the right than
they did this convention, where
they are rightfully put on an
equality with the men, what will
they do if they get suffrage?
The way to get the right to vote
is to exercise every right leading
in that direction, and show by
their actions that it is really
desired.
John Hath met with an accident on
