Judge Broiidy of Lincoln came to
Nemaha Friday to visit his son, J. C.
Broady, and to look after his farm
northeast of Nemaha. He returned
home Monday.

inspector, came to Nemaha Monday to
inspect a carload of sheep that J . H,
Seid wanted to ship. He found the
sheep all right and Henry shipped
them Wednesday.
Mrs. (V. II . Hoover want to St.
Lonis Wednesday night, After taking
in the exposition sua expects to go to
New York and will remain there and
in Boston probably most of the sum

Mrs. Sherwood and Miss Ethel, who
havo been visiting friends at Y wrdon,
returned to Nemaha Thursday morns
iug. Ethel is suffering a little at times
from the effects of her fall, but has
about recovered.
Mrs. Rose Gilbert and Mrs. A. R.
McCandless wont to St. Louis Thurss
day. Mrs Gilbert will visit tho ex
position about a week and will then
go to Michigan. Mrs, McCandless ex
pects to remain about two weeks.
After the play Saturday night the
members of the Ilebekah lodge gave a
supper at the Odd. Fellows hall to the
members of the lodgo, Odd Fellows
and their families. The snpper sorved
was tine. About eighty were present.

Monday, May 2. Mr. Maddox, whose
home was in Missouri, was visiting his
daughter aud had a strokoof paralysis
Saturday which caused his death
The body was taken across the river
for burial on Tuesday.

M, W. Knapp, Wife and
Baby Injured
Last Sunday Mr, nnd Mrs. Miles W.
Knapp visited their daughter, Mrs.
Shellenborgar, living near Humboldt.
Monday morning thoy started for
homo expecting to take dinner with
their sou, Ell Knapp, near Stella.

down a gentle incline. (I Mr. Knapp

buggy on the horses, nnd thoy bagan
to kick nnd run. Mr. Knapp attompt.

tho polo ran in the ground and broke
off. Thon one of tho linos broke.
Mr. Knapp ws jerked out at tho
horses' feet and one of them kicked
him twice, causing him to lose hold of
tho othor lluu. The horses ran down
the road with Mrs. Knapp and the
bapy in the buppy.
After going about a quarter of a
mile Mrs. Knapp loaned over tho side
of the buggy, holding the baby by the
clothes, and dropped it on the ground
Mrs, Knapp staid in the buggy, with
tho pole broken, the ilnes gono and
pulled by only one horse, while it ran
about two miles, going down two steep
hills and'over two bridges, one of them
at a short turn in the road. She then
attempted to get out of the buggy, but
when she got one foot on tho atop she
wes thrown down, one foot catching
on the bed of tho buggy, throwing her
under tho wheels. Sho was dragged a
short distance and then the bind wheel
ran over her. Whon help reached
her she was in a fainting condition but
expressed hor fear for her husband and
baby. Sho was taken to tho homo of
Doc Brocktnan nnd a doctor was sent
for. In the moantimo Mr. Knapp had
arrived. He received two cuts on hid
forehead and one on the knee, but
was not badly injured. Mrs. Knapp
was quite seriously hurt, her whole
body being bruised, nnd she bas little
or no use ef one sido. The bnby es
caped with a bruiso On the back of his
head.
The horsas ran about a quarter of a
mile after Mrs Knnpp got out and then
stopped. If Bhe had staid in the buggy
she would have escaped without in
jury.
Mrs, Knnpp is still suffering severe
ly, and It will probably bo several days
before she will bo well enough to be
brought home. Mr. Knapp and the
baby are getting along all right. It is
hoped nil will saon recover from their
injuries.
