Mrs. Dan Fauver aud children, of
Wymore, arrived in Nemaha Tues
day afternoon on a few days' visit to
Mrs. Fauver's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
James M. Burns.
Two men from Rule camo to Nema
ha last Friday. Tbe next rooming
they bought lumber and built a flat
boat. They started down tbo river on
tbe boat that afternoon.
Archibald Maxwell, of Sterling, Jlls,
arrived in Nemaha Saturday afternoon
on a visit to his brother, John Max
well. He had been visiting a son in
Oklahoma and camo from there here.
Married On Thursday afternoon,
March 20, 1002, at tbe Lutheran par
sonage, South Auburn, Nebr., by the

Mr. and Frank Frey, who have been
visiting Peter Kerker aad lamily for
several days, returned to Iowa Mons
day, Mrs. Frey is Mr. Kerker's young
est sister. He had not seen her for a
number of years and of course greatly
enjoyed tbe visit.
Ab Mutz, representing the Bradley
Catron Co., wholesale grocers of Ne
braska City, says Nemaha is the best
business town of its size that ho visits.
TbiB one firm sold over 812,700 worth
of groceries to Nemaha Merchants in
1901 an average of over $1,050 a
month. They sold more goods here
than at Howe, Brownvllle aud Peru
combined.
Tbe Bank of Nemaha received ans
other-safe Monday. It is one of the
celebrated Mosler screw safes, and has
been in use in tbe First National bank
of Auburn for some time, that bank
selling it In order to put in a larger
one. It is just the same as the one in
the Carson National bank and almost
exactly the same as tbe one in tbo now
Nemaha County bank. It is as near
burglar proof as they make them. A
vault will be built soon .

Grandma Slagle of St. Deroin was
thrown out of a wagon and seriously
injured laat Sunday while attending
the funeral of Min Ethel Ritter.
The school trustees have bought Ave
lots south of the school house. For
several years these lots have besn
leased for a playground for the pupils
of tbo school.
In the last eight months the follows

been started in Nemaha: Livery, drug
store, bank, meat market, and hard
ware and furniture store the latter,
