has moved to Broken Bow. Ilia wife
left for their new home Monday.

stock hogs before he returns.
County Superintendent W. O. Par
riot was visiting schools In this part of
the county Tuesday. He reports the
schools as doing excellent work.
Marshal Pryor returned from Kansas
City Thursday morning where he went
with a car load of hoga. While there
he visited his slater who he hud not

Mra. W. W. Keeling went to Omaha
Thursday to visit her daughter, Mrs.
Ed L. Culver. Her little grand'
daughter, Uuth Keeling, went with
her,
Messrs. Hitchey aud Mooro, Mrs.
Kempthorne and Miss Mollio Mooro
attended the teachers association at
Auburn last Saturday. They report
an Interesting program and a good at

amounting to 81,400: She will receive

apiece for two children.
The Christmas tree will bo nt the
Methodist church Monday night. Al
though the tree is in cburce of the
Methodist Sunday school, evcrv ono is
welcome to put presents on tho tree.
Several of the front seats will be re
served for the Sunday school scholars.

Prof. E. IV. Kendall and daughter,
Maude Kendall, of Nebraska City, w'l
give a concert at the Methodist church
Saturday night, December 22nd. The
Kendalls come highly recommended
and will undoubtedly glvp a good en
tertainment. Tho program consists of
songs, recitations, etc.

house was built In 1850. J. B. Hoo
vor's brick house, tho two brick houses
owned by F. L. Woodward and occu
pied by himself and R. I. Brown, the
brick part of tho houso where Mra.
Oil in lives and tho brick part of the old
Scovlll house wero all built the name
Bummer. The brick for all of these
houses was burned in n kiln located at
thu foot of tho hill east of town, north
of the road leading to the depot tho
same place whero many kilns havo
been burned since then. Uncle Alex
Skeen and his good wife occupied tho
old houso for over thirty-live years,
dispensing hospitality to all who camo.
They raised a family of ulno children,
all but two of whom are living. Men
tion of the old houso will recall mem
ories of happy times spent there to a
great many of tho pioneers.
