Mrs. Anna Ray, of Portland, Oregon,
started for Longton, Kansas, last Sat
urday, to visit her daughter! Mrs.

and an aunt of the editor, and had been

R. C. Morton has traded his heme in
Nemaha to Horace W. Titus, father of
Sberm Titus, for property at Iowa
Point, Kansas, and moved to that place

freight with his family, honsehold
goods, etc.
Prof. E. W. Kendall and daughter,
Maude Kendall, of Nebraska City, will
give a concert at the Methodist ehurch
Saturday night, December 22nd. The
Kendalls come highly recommended
and will undoubtedly give a good en
tertainment. The program consists of
songs, recitations, etc.

had been arrested charged with break
ing the ordinances by getting drunk,
creating a disturbance and using pro
fane and obscene language at the ball
in Hoover's opera house the night of
Nov. 22nd. Harry Shadley, one of
the mauagers of the ball, (lied the com
plaint. H. A. Lambert appeared for
the preseoution and G. W. Cornell for
the defense. A jury trial was had.
Many witnesses were examined en
both Bides. The jury gave in a verdict
acquitting the privoner. The trial last
ed until 3 o'clock Tuesday morning.
