IN MEMORIAM.
Grandma Skeen heard tho call,
"Enter thou Into tho joy of thy Lord,"
and accepted the invitation on tho
aftornoon of Decombor 20th. Death
can uover mar tho life she lived. A
patient sufferer fr about 4 years,
always. hopeful, full of faith to the end.
Death's terror was at a distance.
When unmasked it showed to her a
smiling face. Tho dome of thought,
the palace of tho soul, sleeps qulotly
in tho cemetery at Nemaha. The
writer was called upon to spunk words
of comfort to tho children, relatives
and friends, and to think of tho pros
clous promise of Jesus "I go to.preparo
a place for ybti." Tho fact that tho
spirit has returned to tho God who
gave it, and that the light of eternal
day Is hers and joy and gladnees for
evormore, is a gontlo reproof to pale
Borrow that sits weeping at tho homo
of our noblo (load.' Wo aro glad that
tho shadow that death has cast over
the souls of tho living cannot dim the
light of hope, or fruatrato that faith
that overcomes the world. Like tho
flower that goes to sleep with tlio set
ting eun.she close;! her eyes and death
was done, for to her it had no stingnud
by faith in Jesus Christ the grave has
lost its victory, lieath waits on all
but waits for nono. In gladness, hope
tor tho meeting over there. Think
not of the dead hut of tho living, for
sho lives witli God and tho angels.
Itejoico ovormore in the hope of tho
redemption of our bodies.
Mrs. Mary (Blevlns) Skeon was boj
in Green county, Kentucky, October
Gth, ISIS . She was married to Alex
D. Skeen April 3rd, 18J11. Sho died
December 20th. 1800, aged 81 years, 2
months and 21 days.
