Mrs. E. J. Maxwell and Mrs. Frank
Titus wont to Gretna, Neb., Monday
to visit parents and be present at the
graduation of a younger sister. If
ever you saw two lonesome looking
men they are Ed and Frank.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Marlatt left this
week for Uolton, Kansas, where their
daughter, Mrs. Frank King lives,

in this county and they leave now in

J. B, Hoover is having his resi
dence reshingled for the llrst time
since the house was built, over forty
years ago, Tho old shingles are the
old fashioned shaved cypress shingle
nad have certainly performed g ood
service.
Next Wednesday will be election
day again, and wo will havo an oppor
tunity to say whether wo want a good
court house that will keep records safe
or whether we will be satisfied with
our present ramshackle affair. Wo be
lieve tho bonds will carry by a good
majority.
Will F. Keeling and his class of
Sunday school scholars, all of them
boys ten to twelve years of ago, went
llshlng last Saturday. The boys had
a good ctime, caught a few fish, and
came heme declaring they had the
best teacher in the Sunday school.
And Will enjoyed the outing as much
as the boys,
Wednesday morning while Frank
Seid was closing the gate in driving
out of W. W. Seid's, tho team started
to run with little Ray on the spring
seat alone. Mrs. Kerapthorne, who
was driving a short distance ahead on
her way to school, seeing he child's
danger) drove her horse to a telephone
pole, sprang out and caught the team.

car of lumber for his new block Thurs
day. Frank Leslie returned to Auburn

man at Quarry No. 1 between Auburn
and Johnson.
F. L. Woodward is one of tho un
fortunates who will have to servo on
the jury for the May term of court
which convenes at Auburn next Mons
day.
Miss Loota Thompson who has been
at Omaha for some time, for medical
treatment, returned home Thursdays
Her sister, Miss Kate Thompson, and
Mrs. R. J. Duff, drove to Auburn
thnt morning and brought her in.
Dr. H. S. Gaither has just received
a fine electric aparatus for examination
and treatment of diseases of the ear,
nose, throat, etc. By its assistance

Tho entertainment given by the
Sniggles Family at the opera house
last Saturday night was a grand suc
cess. Tho Widow Sniggles (Mrs.Earle
Gilbert), who had the principal acting
to do, was fine. Tho high notes
reached by the fourth daughter, Selvlc
ta Lorena (Miss Lillian Mlnick) brought
down the house, and the eigthth daugh
ter, Jemi.ua (Miss Mollie Minick), never
failed to giggle for the people. But
all the daughters were fine. The recU
tations given by Miss Kate Barnes and
Mrs. Alice McCandless, before the
Snigglos' came on the stage, wero most
excellent nnd the singing of Miss Mao
Gaither, Pearl Duff and Coy Rives and
little Lela Gaither was good. The re
ceipts of the evening was $18.95, which
shows that a large audience was pres
ent, as the admission was only 10 and
15 cent.

The County Commissioners say if
the court house bond proposition car
ries they will make a contrnct for the
erection of a court house that will be
complete in every way for not more
than tho amout of tho bonds voted.
There will not bo any additional cost
to finish it up, as so many seem to fear.
The contractors will have to finish it
before they get their money.
