Harry McCandioss shipped a car of
hogs to St. Joe Friday of last week and
another load to the Biuno place Thurs
day of this week.
Albert H. Titus, who has been visit
ing at homo for somo time, started for
his farm in Custer county, Oklahoma,
Thursday afternoon.
Mrs. Win. Hawxby and John went
to shenandoah, Iowa, Saturday, to at
tend the funeral of Mrs. Annie Field.
They returned homo Monday.
County Superintendent Carman wns
in town Wednesday afternoon. Mr.

Mrs. John Lewla and two daughters,
of Shubert, started for Chicago Thurs
day. Ono of tho daughters is a cripple
and is being taken to Chicago for treat
ment. Will Tracy, tho former grain buyer
at Bracken, started for Oklahoma
Thursday night. He intends to open
a store in a now town west of Weath
erford. Wm. A. Suiter, jeweler, in Minick
building, now ready for all work in
that line, will also carry a stock of
restaurant goods, servo lunches, ice
cream and lemonade.
Miss Genevieve Maddox, who has
baou teaching tho McCandlesa school ,
went to Peru Wednesday, and after
visiting there a day or two will go on
to Red Oak, Iowa.
John and Will Hawxby went to
Shenandoah, Iowa, last Friday, called
thore by the death of their daughter
and sister, Mrs. Annie Field. They
returned hoaie Monday. Mrs. Hawxby
ia at Shenandoah yet.
Rev, Joe Jones closed his meetings
at Brownville Monday night and on
Tuesday started south. Ho expected
to stop at Texarkaua at a Chautauqua
over Sunday and then go ou to liia
homo At Atlanta, Georgia.
Will Swau has quit talking about
Highlanders, farming or any other
business and now talks about nothing
but "my boy." Ho says ho is tho big
gest, handsomest and smartest boy in
tho state. Looks just like pa. Dr.

Will declares he weighs at least fifteen.
Ho was born Thursday morning.

Dr. J. L. Melvln, now locatod at Guth
rie, Oklahoma. Tho Dr. says ho likos

Ho also writes that May has had tho
measles and Lizzie is now sick. Ho
sends his regardB to inquiring friends.
Nemaha now has the champion boy
fer size in proportion to his age in the
state. Lawrence Suiter is only ten

proportioned, bright and intelligent,
and is very active. He is still grow
lug. Ho Is tho son of Wm. A. Suitor,
the jeweler who has recently located
in Nemaha.
George Ncal received a letter Tues
day from his brother, Louis Neal, who
ia living at Bellovuo, Nob., containing
tho intelligence of tho death of Henry
Fontenelle, who passed away April
24th at Decatur, Neb. The decoaaed
was one of the pioneers of tho county,
having lived at Asphlwull boforo the
war, and will bo remembered by the
old settlers.
Frank U. Young, of Brok'an Bew,
came to Nemaha Thursday afternoon
in the interests of the Masonic lodge,
Mr. Young being grand master mason
of the state, He was the guest of
James A. Titus part of the timo, and
was taken out riding and shown as
much of the country as was possible
during tho short timo he was hero.
He was well pleased with tho country.
Ho looked through the Titus nursery
and bought somo nursery steck for his
homo. He left-Friday forenoon.
Mrs. Anuie Field, who died at her
homo in Shenandoah, Iowa, Friday
morning of last week, was a highly es
teemed lady. The years she spent in
our midst, growing from childhood to
womanhood here, endeared nor to a
great many of our people. Slio was
teacher of the piimary department of
tho Nemaha schools one year and won
the love and admiration of her pupils.
Since her marriago sho has mado tier
homo in Shenandoah, but in her fre
quent visits here she has been warmly
welcomed by her many frlonds. Her
death ia greatly regretted.
The funeral services wore held at
Shenandoah Sunday afternoon. The
deceased leaves a husband and a little
son, father, mother and two brothers
who will sadly miss hor. Thoy have
our sympathy in their great affliction.

Frank Woodward stayed all night
ono night last week with Tom BunkH,
at North Platte. Tom has one of the
finest stores in North Platte a doublo
store room with dry goods and clothing
on ono sido and groceries on the other.
Ho has seven clerks employed and dues
a big buslnoss. Clint Banks has a
good store at Cozad. Frank stopped
tho next night with Wlls Combs, who
lives on a ranch about fifteen miles
from North Platto. He has a nlco
bunch of high grado shorthorn cattle
and a lot of hogs and is prospering.
Mr. and Mrs. Combs woro both well.
Their daughter Cora ie the wifo of
one of the teachers in tho North
Platto schools. They have a baby
about two weeks old. Frank also
met I. F. Hathbone, who has recently
been promoted to transfer clerk at Lin
coln in tho railway mail service, and
has moved there. He has bought a
place near whero David Tourtelott
lives. Tho many friends of thoso pars
tios will be pleased to hear of tfielr
prosperity.
Hoy, tho nino year old son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. O. Itedfern, of London
precinct, died Sunday with spinal men
ingitis. The little fellow had been
Jeeling unwell for a week, but was
only taken seriously sick on Saturday.
He was tho only child of a home now
left desolate. Brownville Sun.
