To those who are in favor of'ri sink
ing fund being created to build a court
house wo would ask, will .it be cheaper
to pile up a large sum of monoy in the
county treasury for banks to light over
and loan to us at 10 per cent interest
than to pay 5 per cent interest on bonds
running ten years, with the option of
paying in five years?
Creating a Binking fund means piling
up a large sum of monoy for tho banks
to quarrel oyer, placing a temptation
for some ono to steal, and no protection
to tho records fer two or three yoars,
and then perhaps find our money tied
up in some defunct bank. Voting
bonds means giving tho county's note
for a sum of money which will be
forthwith expended in building a court
house and the protection of our
records.

County Commissioner B. F. Moln
inch was in Nomaha Wednesday and
gavo this ofllce a social call. Mr. Mc
Ininch is in favor of a now court house
but is opposed to bonds for anything.
He is in favor of levying a tax eufllcleut
to raise in ono year half the amount
necessary to buildja good court house.
When this is raited begin to build, and
levy a tax to raiso the remainder of the
monoy to pay fort it, Almost every
voter favors building a Igood court
bouie. The only difference of opinion
Is over tho amount needed and how to
raiso it, We do not believo the amount
of bonds on a county as wealthy as
Nemaha will be very burdensome. It
is about as hard for us to pay taxes as
anybody, but we expect to vote for
bonds.
About the worst let of old plug hors
es and mules we have ever seen brought
together were sold at sheriff sale last
Saturday. They belonged to Bud
Stockton and were sold to pay costs in
the suit with Judge Broady ever the
possession of the sand bar whero Bud
has been wintering horses and having
a little farming done in the summer.
The outfit wae so tough looking that
Sheriff Cole and Deputy Hughes wore
ashamed to do the selling, so they got
Dave Plasters, who has been iu tho
builness so long he has got toughened.
Tho animal bringing the most money
was a mule, which was sold for 812.
Frank Woodward bought a little burro

a head. He says they played it en him
though, as they took advantage of his
absence while he was looking after his
purchases and sold ono horse for 40
centB. He would havo run the price
up to 55 conts if he had been thero.

alry troup and is buying up horses with
that object in view.
