Douglas and London precincts got
five out of the eight nominations on
the fusion ticket.
Albert Titus sold over 3300 bushels
of corn a few days ago. Ho is satisfied
that farming pays.
Miss Edna Thompson went to Shen
andoah, Iowa, Monday. She will at
tend school there this year.
C. H. Kindig went to Cortland, Neb.,
last Saturday. He is principal of the
public schools of that place.
Mr. and Mrs. Lena Bantz and Miss
Louisa Ceoni, of Humboldt, are guests
of Mrs Martha Coons this week.
W. II, Englebrlght, of Hastings, is
bnying apples in Nemaha. He shipped
a car load to Minden Wednesday.
Fred Moore took the train Thursday
morning for Mason City, Neb., where
he will teach school the coming year.
School begins next Monday morning.
Endeavor to have the children attend
the first day and every day thereafter.
Robt. I. Smith and Harvey went to
Shenandoah, Iowa, Monday. Harvey
will attend school there the coming
year.
The Woodmen of the Werld will
hold a picnic at Auburn next Monday.
Preparations have been made for a big
time.
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Baker, ef South
Auburn, visited Mrs. Baker's parent's,
Rav.Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Taylor, on
Friday.
Miss Ona Tourtelott will give an oli
ocutionary entertainment at Shubert
Saturday night. T. A. Clark will give
a cornet solo.

We met T. J. Oliver while at Lincoln
Thursday of last week. He informs us
that ho has accepted the position as
principal of tho Greenwood Bchool for
the ensuiug year.
Mrs. W. W. Sanders and Willie and
Nellie, who have been visiting friends
at Beatrico, Wymore and Odell for tho
past two weeks aud a half, came home
Thursday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Kemp Colerick visited
Mrs. Colerick's parents, Mr and Mrs.
Laird, near Humboldt, a few days, go

Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Rurabaugh, of
Smlthland, Iowa, arrived in Nemaha
Thursday afternoon, on a visit to their
son, Elmer E. Rumbaugh. They ex
pect to remain about a mon h,
Philip Landon, the "divine healer,"
came to Nemaha Wednesday afternoon,
and will probably remain for awhilo.
He was married Tuesday and is enjoys
ing his honeymoon in Nemaha.
We have for free distribution a num
ber of copies of the premium list of
the Nemaha county fair, to bo hold at
Auburn Sept. 28th, 20th nd 30th aud
October 1st. Call in and got one.
J. F. Wykes came down from Syra
cuse Tuosday evening and visited
friends until train time the next morn
ing, when he went to Highland, Kas.,
to which station ho has been changed.
Elder Nicholson will! preach at the
Christian church Saturday night, at 8
o'clock p. m., and on Sunday morning
and evening, and will probably begin
a protracted meeting. Everybody is
cordially invited.
Wo have placed our accounts in this
section in the hands of Mr. Ben Parker
for collection, as it is impossible for us
to get out and see the delinquents. We
hope thoso who are owing us will be
prepared for tho emergoncy.
Philip Landon, the "divine healer,"
and Miss Susannah Case, of Sterling,
were married at the court houso in
Tecumseh on Tuesday evening. The
"healer' gave his age as twouty-nine
years and the bride forty-nine.
V. P. Peabody returned home Tuess
day morning from Buffalo, New York,
where he attendod the national G. A.
R. encampment. Ho also visited some
at Niagara Falls and Toronto, Canada,
and thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Mrs. Annio Field, of Shenandoah,
Iowa, started home Monday, after a
visit of several days with hor parentst

ters-in-law drove down after hor, and
they took a lot of fruit back with them,

John Elliott was driving a young
horse to his road wagon Thursday,
when tho horse became frightened at
something, jumped to one sido, broke
one shaft, and then ran away. The
harness was broken in several places,
but no other damage was done.
Mrs. Clara Colloy and Miss Edna
Shuck, daughters of Jonn Shuck, of
lona, Kansas, visited relatives and
friends iu Nemaha and vicinity from
Thursday till Saturday of last week.
They are granddaughters of tho lato
John Shuck, who for mauy years
owned the Quiller farm, west of town.
It is rumored that Elder T. J. Wil
liamson, woll known in this part of the
state, died at his home in Marysville,
Mo., lately. It is said at tho time of
his death ho weighed ovor-iOO pounds.
Elder Williamson had many friends in
Nebraska, who will lie uuiry to learn
of his douth, and who will condono
with his family in their end bereaves

Ed L. Culver, after a few days' visit
in Nemaha, started for Springfield,
South Dakota, Tuesday, no has sold
his business interests in Springfield and
goes back t settle tip his affairs. Mr.
Culver is greatly pleased with Nemaha
and vicinity and talks of locating here.
His wife remainod here, visiting her
parents, Dr. and Mrs W. W. Keeling,
but expects to start for Indiana the
first of next week.

their county convention at Auburn
last Saturday. Tho following ticket
was nominated :

lists, Tho superintendent, surveyor,

crats. The populists selected all their
candidates from Douglas and London
precincts, while tho democrats wont to
Poru, Brownville, Washington and
Douglas precinct for their candidates.
Tho corenor is tho only candidate nom
inated from tho western half ef the
county, and tho superintendent is the
only ono nominated in tho north half
of tho county, whilo tho southeastern
part of the county gets nothing.

The wedding was a quiet affair, tho

Sanders, of Nemaha, Each guest was

Tho groom is principal of tho school
at Vesta: He is one of the leading ed
ucators of Johnson county, nnd is the
fusion caudidnto for county superin
tendent. Ho is highly respected whor
over known. Tho bride is too woll
known in Nemaha county to need any
introduction. Sho grew from infancy
to young womanhood in Nemaha, and
graduated from tho Nomaha schools
three years ago. Since thon she has
baon teaching near Cook. Sho was of
fered a position in tho school sho has
been teaching, and also ono in the
Cook school and in tho Wymoro Bchool,
but decided to undertako the training
of ono pupil. Miss Nina was ono of
Nemaha's best beloved young ladies,
and her host of friends join with The
Adveiitiseii in congratulations to Mr.
and Mrs. Canon, nnd extend host wishes
for all tho happiness and prosperity
possiblo in this life.
