The splendid artistry of Thomas Jefferson was never
more perfectly disclosed than in his exquisite hand
ling of this one situation just one of the many big
dramatic moments with which Washington living's
nge-old classic is studded. v
Only once in a while does such a picture as "Rip

AT THE SUN, THREE DAYS'

Rosin Beds Now Mined.
Many nrtlcles In dally us came orig
inally from the ground, but few realize
thut "mining" rosin has been a thriv

Is the product of the sap of certain

New York Sun.
Half a century ago rosin was so
cheap that It did not pay to put it in
barrels and send It to market. The
barrels were worth more than the
rosin. Turpentine, however, brought
a good price and came from the same
sap which yielded rosin us a by
product. In consequence manufactur
ers concentrated on the turpentine and
allowed the molten rosin jo run Into
pits, where It hardened and was
covered with earth to get It out of the
way.
