Izcd by school children because of tho emphasis placed on fighting, gun play and torture. For this reason I have booked a nev departure in serials, "Winners of the West," produced by the Universal Film Manufacturing company. Tals ferial strikes an entirely new note ' serial production and completely fiimlnatei tho aforementioned objec tionablo features. "Winners of the West" Is based on the heroic explo'cs of two of America's greatest und irost riiiturc NQve pioneers Captain John ('. Fremont and Kit Carson. Realizing the necessity for present ing films that shall appeal to child ren, interest without exciting them, and havo a distinct educational value, tho Universal company has under taken this novel departure in screen production. I, too, feel that the pre sentation of distinctive national heroes in clean motion pictures will bring about a valuable sense of co operation between tho school and tho screen. A child's disinclination tc study will disappear, I believe, when ho has his lessons served to him in the guise of entertainment. Incident ally, these pictures should prove an effoctlvo agency in the interest of Americanization. I feel wo shall accomplish great good in showing the school children of this community pictures depicting tho lives of thoso who will over serve as a shining example to the youth of our land. Do not you agree with me that wo shall advance tho cause of Americanism to a considerable degroo 'v Inculcating in tho minds of our children a rovorenco and appreciation of thoso who helped to make our country the glorious land it Is today?
