Judge Woodhurst says that accora
ing to tho game laws of Nebraska in
fbrco at tho present time, It Is un
lawful for any boy. or girl uiidei1
sixteen to go fishing at any lime
during the year. Tho law says that
all persons who fish or try to fish lit
this state must have a hunting ana
fishing license and then it says that a
license can be issued only to persona
who are sixteen or over. Since boys
and girls are persons and many or
them are under sixteen they are pro
hibited from fishing. One man as:c
od him wha-t he would do If some
little twelve year old girls were
brought before him for going fish
ing and he said he didn't know. We
know what ho would want to do.. If
wo were in power we would tell the
game wardens to '"lay off" on the
kids and go after some of the old
offenders. Just think of being twel
ve and couldn't 0 fishing. We hope
the Judge is mistaken and that lie
has overlooked something or other
because wo aro 'for the boys anc
girls going fishing.

CHOSSING.
A vloduct may bo built ovor tho
Uniln Pacific connecting the ina!n
business part on the south side with
tho main business part on the north
side. In case such a viaduct is built
tho grade crossing at Locust strcot
will ho closed. It is said that bluo
prints hnvo been shown here which
give on outline of. the. proposed
plan. According to those bluo prints,
tho viaduct will be entirely on. rail
road property and none of the city
streets will bo used. This is designed
to avoid litigation which .usually fol
lows tho building of a viaduct. Tho
foot of tho viaduct is said to bo at
tho end of Dewey street, not Locust
street. It Is planned to extend ' the
viaduct in a northwesterly direction,
with the other end near tho old round
house. Should this bo carried out the
viaduct would become a part of the
Lincoln Highway and would dlVert
all of tho traffic from Locust street i
to Dewey street. Railroad officials
do not give nny information about the'
proposed plan but some whoso knOw-j
ledge Is far reaching in such matters'
say tho plan has been nil but ap-'
proved. It is said that a committee'
is now drawlngup ah ordinance cov
ering the question of a viaduct. Thpro '
aro constant complaints that the buei-j
ness of the city Is being hampered
by tho blocking of tho Locust street;
crossing and it Is to open up tho .way
for traffic that tho matter Is being
agitated just now.
