The Curtis school opened Septombor 12. Tho other, commonly known as the University School of Agriculture, will dpon on October 10. Most of tho farmers present becamo convorted to sweet clovor ns a soli Improver as well as a pas ture crop. Tho Commissioners of Douglas County were so much Interested in reports from tho gully-control dem onstrations in Richardson county that thoy recently arranged for an Inspection trip to that county. Thoy Bent one of their number with their county engineer and tho Douglas county agriculture oxtonslon agent to accompany tho extension engi neer of tho Collogo of Agrlculturo on an Inspection of tho Richardson county projoct. The party was piloted by tho Richardson county oxtonslon agont, many Interesting plocos of control work woro oxamln ed, and a goodly fund of IdoaB was collected. At this season of the year when grass la more or less dried up, and bugs and fresh wutor are scarco, the hens aro vory apt to become 111 and' overfat from too much corn, oats wheat or barley they llnd In abund ance around the avorago farm. Do not oxpect the hens to do their best on an over supply of starchy food and a lack of green food, protein and wat er. This Is one of tho most critical of all months In pullet management. While there Is no one host ration, tho Nebraska College of Agrlculturo gets excellent results with tho follwlng dry bran mash ration. 50 pounds bran, 50 pounds shorts, 50 pounds corn moal, 50 pounds ground oats, 50 pounds tnnkago or moat scraps, 2V6 pounds table salt.
