show but on account of the lack of
foam it was decided that they could
not be included.

COMMERCE DINNER.
Tho officers nnd directors of the
Chamber of Commerce were possessed
of a, happy thought when they called
tho meeting of tho membership, at the
Episcopal Church, Tuesday ovening.
Tho room was well filled with inter
ested men and the dinner served by
the ladies was well prepared and
bountiful. John 11. Edwards waB nt his
best and his handling of tho cxtempor
aneous toast list was very pleasing.
He first called upon the secretary for
a. report of the activities of; the post
'three months. Mr. Bare read a do-
Jtailed report which he had prepared,
which ho supplemented with explan
ations whenever ho thought it neces
sary. A summary of tho report is
found elsowhere. E. R. Goodman told
of tho needs of the schools nnd how
tho money lias" been spent. W. J.
Hondy spoke briefly of tho camp
grounds. Dr. Redfield mado a plea
for a hospital. B. II. Evans told of the
plans of tho American Legion for an
Auditorium. Dr. Prltchnrd spoko of
tho neod for n milk inspector and W.
E. Shuman gave a short talk on gen
eral boosting topics. J. Q. Wilcox, J.
V. Romigh, O. 11. Thoelecke, John J.
Halligan and others made short talks.
A voto of confidence in tho Secretary
and other officers was unanimous nnd
tho best of good-feeljng prevailed.
Stamp's orchstra furnished the music.
It was decided to hold similnr meet
ings once a month hereafter. j
