recent meeting definitely decided to
abandon tho idea of purchasing olthor
tho TrlStato building or tho Lincoln
Hotel for an Elks' homo, but decided
to t purchase lots and erect a now
bi nding. It wns voted to purchaso tho
KlmbroiiRh lots situated ono block
north of tho North hotel, which were
purchased at a consideration of $10,
000 Tho property conslts of four
lots facing Uroadway. It Is under
stood that architects aro to begin at
onco to prepare plans and work to
commenco on tho building as quickly
as possible, Tho building ns planned
when completed will represent an ex
penditure of somothlng llko $100,000.

River bridge. The city has stationed
a man thoro who is to direct dump
ing. A lot of brush has been hauled
there and thrown into tho river, build"
ing a jetty to protect tho banks of the
river from being washed. Several of
those jetties will bo built along tho
south bank of the river and tho lnter
Tenlng space will sorvo as a dump
ground. Tho field to the west of tho
bridge Is to be" fenced so that no more
dumping will take place there and
tho refuse that has been placed on Uiat
side will bo dressed up to improve tho
appearance.
