shows approximately $2,443,000.00 as
tho amount of business done last year.

Tho Fidollty Reserve Is a home com

fully meets Its requirements In every

In a' communlctlon sent out this
morning by tho Publicity Committed
of tho Public Wolfaro 'Association Ihc
wrltor Bhows that tho Wolfaro Way
Is: the new slogan which stands in
opposition to tho Common Law "NVny.
Tho mcssagci follows:
"Tho common law way of dealing
with criminals Is to wait until a crime
has boon committed, then turti tho
matter over to tho police and detccl-
lvos to capture tho criminal If they
can and sometimes got tho wrong
man. At a later day tho court is o
poncd, tho Jury selected, tho evidence
hoard, tho lawyers argue, the Judge
ponders, tho decision Is reached and
tho prlsonor Is freed" or punished.
SomotlmeB thoy find they lmvo tho
wrong man.
Contrast this mothod which Is good
as far as It goes with tho Welfare
Way. It alms to prevent tho crime
before tho injury Is done; It halts the
criminal before tho crimo is commit
ted: It tries to prevent certain dls-
casos by proventlng tho marriage of
tho diseased; it scoks to decreaso tho
number of fooblo minded by rofuslng
to allow fceblo minded peoplo to boar
children; It would bunt out tho causes
nnd cure them
The proposod Child Wolfaro legis
lation will help to do these things.
They will bo good laws and the Pub
lic Welfare Association Is behind
them and Is working for tholr passago
at this session of tho legislature. It
asks all peoplo who boliovo In this
method f attacking our civic and so
cial problems to Join tha Association,
get back of tho legislature and help
put thoso laws on tho Btatute books.'"
