This improved land, totalling only
271,447 acres, Is valued at a littlo
less than fivo million dollars, whllo
the 1,270,838 acres of unimproved
has a vauo ot somewhat ovor seven
and one-halt millions. Tho valuo of
personal property In tho county Is a
little less than eighteen million dol
lars, and tho town property valuo is
nearly four and oneVhalf millions.
Added to this nro tho railroads and
tho telegraph and telophono linos, tho
valuo of which Is placed at about six
millions. This makos tho total valuo
of all proporty In Lincoln county forty
million dollars in round numbers.
Lincoln county with Its 23,420 peo
ple ranks seventh In population
among tho counties ot tho state. Of
these 23,420 moro than ouo-half, or
12.7C2, llvo in tho towns, leaving
10.CGS actually residing on tardus;.
It hns been fairly estimated that
14,4fi0 Lincoln county pcoplo llvo In
tho tawns and on tho farms which
nro located In tha Platto Vnlloy
proper, leaving 8,970 in tho towns and
on tho farniB outsido tho valley.
In acreage Lincoln county Is the
third largest In tho stato, exceeded
only by Cherry and Custer counties,
tho lnttor having but a fow moro
acres than Lincoln. It Is by reason of
this large ncreago that Lincoln coun
ty stands closo to tho head in tho
number ot cattle owned, tho total re
ported last year being nearly sixty
soven thousand head.
