Pnttor hou writes an follows concerning "tho Cosmopolitan Club of Amorlca, tho prospectus nnd literature of which lmvc beon submitted to him for hta consideration. January, 27th 1921. I. L. BAItB, Secrotary, Chambor of Commerce, North Plntto, Nebraska. Dear Sir: I have carefully examined tho ap plication and Utoruturo, submitted by you, of the Cosmopolitan Club of A merioa, purporting to bo Incorporated In Ohio as tho "Cosmopolitan AYisocl tlon of Amorlca." From tlio papers submitted tho plnn of the club is to collect from Its mem bora nnnualy tho sum of $12.00, $24.00, $3G.OO or $4S.00, according to tho class. Out of tho first paymont tho Club takes live-sixths for their ser vices and places ono sixth to tho credit of tho member in 'some Trust Company to bo selected by tho Club nnd on all subsequent payments tho Club' tnkes out ono-slxth for Its sor vlcos and plncos live-sixths to tho orctllt of tho member In tho Trust Co. so selected. The money placed to the credit of tho member In tho Trust Co. Is to draw Interest nnd to accumulate for 15 years or more, lntorest to bo com pounded. This Is certainly a nice smooth nr rangomout for tho club but not vory profitable for tho mombor. How tho schomo operates can be scon by tnklng tho $48.00 annual pay mont. Tho application provides that out of tho first $48.00 paymont, thoro is but $8.00 placed to tho credit of tho membor, tho bnlanco or $40.00 is taken by tho club for its sorvlces, nnd out of each subsequent paymont of $48.00 tho Club takes ono-Blxth or $8.00 and tho balance $40.00 is placod to tho credit of tho mombor with tho Trust Company. Why tho Chnnibor of Commerco or tho Board of Education should ho ex pected to endotso a schomo of this character Is boyond my comprehen sion. Anyone desiring to snva could se lect tholr own Trust Compnny or bank nnd get credit for tho full $48 per annum payment and havo it draw interest compounded ovory six months without forfeiting any on the principal and do tholr business direct wjth r(iflt)onBlblo,iBank-6'rTrust Com pnny. The so called Cosmopolitan Club does not appear from Its literature? to havo any capital stock lr to hnve'nny pecunlnry responsibility. Rcspoctfully, T. C.
