Ho was a war baby as ho was born whllo tho World War was still raging, and whllo his father was absent in Franco, serving as a Surgeon in Hos pital Unit No. 49, organized and equip ped by Nebraska men and women. By u straugo coincidence, his Mother was absent at tho time of his death, as his Father was at ho time of his birth. His mother had been in rather poor health for about a year, and though convalescing, wont to Shrevo port, La,, with her sister, Mrsv- C. O. Day, on Dec, 28th, 1920, in tho hope that the balmy southern atmospliorq there might rostoro her to comploto hoalth, could sho remain there during tho balance of tho winter. But it was not to bo. Early Sunday morning, a telegram from her husband, informed her that her baby was very sick with dlptherla, and asked for her Immed iate return home. Sho and hor slstor, Myrtle, started at onco arriving here oh No. 15 Monday evening, but, nhts! what a homecoming. Hor darling baby boy's spirit had fled its earthly abode almost as sho started on her long anxious journey. Owing to tho character of tho dis ease, the funeral was strictly private, Rev. Tho remains wore laid away in tho North Platto Cemetery on Wednesday, Jan. 12th,. 1921 at 3 p. m and while friends were prevented from being present In person a wealth of flowors attested their heartfolt sympathy for the Father and Mother, who mourn for their baby. May God, who gives and who takes away, sustain them by his grace, In this, tho hour of their deep affliction. Contrlbutd by J. G. BEELER.
