John E. Evans was born in Pennsyl
vania, November 7, 1847, nnd died at
North Platto, Nebraska, Decomber 27 I
1920, aged 73 years, 1 month nnd 20 ,
days. When ho was but a boy his pur-,

untoored for tho Civil War, enlisting
In tho First Wisconsin Cavalry. Ho,
served until tho end and was with his '
regiment when it captured Jofferson
Davis. Following his discharge, ho

In 1871 ho camo to North Platto ,

fifty years. In 1881 ho married
