MRS. A3IY E. VOTAW.
Amy E. Beedo was born May 22,
1820, near Atwater. Ohio, and depart
ed this Ufo October 18, 1920, near
Wellfleet, Nebr., aged 91 years, four
months and 2G days'.
Sho waB left an orphan at a tender
ago and her childhood was rather
sorrowful as tho family with whom
she lived wero very unkind.
Sho was married August 22. 1851,
tp Abncr Votaw. near Salem, Ohio,
where they lived for two years after
their marriage The family then
moved to Illinois and to Iowa, thence
back to Illinois and in 1885 to Lincoln
County, Nebr.. where tho father died
Docefber 14, 1804, and the mother
moro than 25 years later, Oct. 18. 1920

dear mother during her last Illness.
Besides her children sho had thirty
grand children, twenty-six of whom
survive and oloven great granchll-
dren. ten of whom aro living.
Mother Votaw was a life-long mem
ber of tho Society of Friends, Sho
was an ardent abolitionist in slavery
times, and an earnest advocate of
prohibition and woman suffrage. All
of thoso roforms she lived to sco sup
ported by law.
To children and friends she was de
voted nnd self-sacrificing. Hers was1
a sincere and practical roilgion and
tho commendation for tho loving wifo
mother and friend will bo "Well done,
thou good and faithful sorvant."
Funeral services wero hold at ho
old Votaw homestead, about eighteen
miles north ot Maywood Wednesday
at oloven o'clock conducted by Rov.
Stevens of North Platte, nnd tho re
mains laid to rest bosldo tho husband
in tho Wellfleet cemetery.
