A Column of Nonsense.
Tho othor day whon we were going
over to.nomlgh's Oarngo to buy a
Dodgo Car a man told ua that ho
counted sevonty-dvo people swimming
In tha sand pits in tho bod of the South
Itivor tho other night. This was gtco
tho rocont tragedy thoro. Wo could
not understand why people would con
tinue to go there whon thoro was so
much dangor so, wo thought we would
go over nnd ask Ed Davis, so wo did.
Ed wanted to know who said that but
wo told him is was nono of his busi
ness hut that tho man who said it was
as rcliablo as we woro and Ed said
that wns not very much. Wo told h,m
that was not what wo went over there
to And out and then ho asked us what
wo thought peopld wont down thero
for and wo said that wo supposed they
woro dirty and wanted to wash off and
on account of tho low water pressure
at homo thoy could not ill! their bath
tubs. IIo said if that was tho case ho
thought tho water in tho sand pits
would got dirty but wo told him that
probably tho wigGlors and turtles and
loeches puriflcd it nnd then Ed asked
If peoplo woro anything when they
went Into tho said pits to wash off and
wo said yes thoy woro a liltlo and ho
said how do thoy got clean If thoy
wear tholr clothos and wo said wo did
not konw. Then ho said that ho would
think peoplo would bo afraid to go
thoro nftor so many had boon drowned
and wo told him that wo would think
so too and ho asked If wo would bo
afraid and wo said wo woro not afraid
but tho sand hurt our foot and Ed said
"Well, Well, that's too bad," and wo
told him that It would probably hurt
his foot too If ho wont over thoro and
ho said for us not to got too frosh or
ho would lick us nnd so wo camo
nwny. And now wo know.
