Two of North Platte's moat promi nent famlllos wore united whon Miss Mary Louise OttenstcVn became tho brido of Victor Hugo Ilnlllgan at eight o'clock Wednesday evening. Following a private wedding at tho home of Father McDald, with Father Sullivan officiating, a reception was held at tho homo of tho bride's (parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. IC. Ottensteln. Paul Harring ton, accompanied by Miss Jnnot Mc Donald, sang "Drink to Mo Only Wf.th Thine Ey.es,-' and "At Dawning after which a two course luncheon was ser ved. Mrs. H. M. Grimes presided at tho coffeo urn while, Mrs. N. McCabe poured tea. Table and house decora tions wore ferns and pink and white roses nnd sweet peas. Gowned In Ivory duchesso satin and chantllly lace, her veil of tulle, held In place by a sil ver head band, falling over tho shell pink georgette prepe court train, the bride made a beautiful picture, as sur rounded by her maids In tholr rain bow gowns, sho stood before a pter glass receiving tho good wishes of her host of friends. Her shower bonuot was 'of sweetheart roses and Bweet peas. Miss Ida Ottensteln was maid of honor and wore a dress of coral or gandie with a picture hat to match. Mrs. T W. Peck, Mrs. P. It. Halligan and Mrs. Wm. Wnltemath were mat Tons of honor In tho procession, and wore organdie gowns and hats of canary. lade and orchid, respectively. Their shower boauets were of sweet peas and ferns. Thoro wore sixteen or Q'.ghtcei athletic events, consisting of races, high jump', broad jump, ball and discus throwing, both boys and girls partic ipating. In tho afternoon a patriotic pageant, with tho United States as tho subject, was given undor tho direction of Miss Ethel Fritz, In which over a hundred pupils In costumes participated. In the processional were tho forerunners of tho nation, tho Indians, tho Pilgrim Fathers, then tho peoples of all na tions who sought homes In the new land, followed by the dance of nations, a detllction of the tyranny Inflicted on tho colonies and the father of the country: slavery; the sinews of the nation as shown by liberty, education, justice, laws, agriculture and electric ity; the rebellion and Lincoln tho savior; tho issues of the nations as portrayed by labor, war, peace, equal ity and patriotism; and the finale in the recessional. Interspersed wore patriotic songs. The pageant was splendidly staged, and Miss Fritz as dlnoctress certainly .is entitled to much credit for her work. Tho pageant was given on the school campus and was witnessed by a large crowd. , LECTUltE COURSE. When the last number of tho Lecture Course failed us we began looking, around for a number to take It place. Wo have arranged with tho World Traveller, Mr. Charles A. Payne, to give his patriotic Illustrated lecture on America. This Is Illustrated by many colored slides and Is his newest lecture. All holders of Lecture Course Season tlckots will be admitted free. All others will be charged 25 and 50 cents, The Auditorium Lecture Course under the management of the City Schools Is not a financial success but 't Is bound to make good with the Seaspn Ticket holders. None present thought this percentage of Increase unreasonable and It !s probable that the increase will bo on that basis, There are prob ably many Instances where the 1916 valuation was unreasonably low, and in such instances an increnso of more than thirty per cent will bo made.
