Mr. Carrolf stated that this project, in which Lincoln county and North Platto should bo vitally Interested, In cludes more land thnn nny other pro ject which has been called to the at tention of the government, covering about a million acres of land and fur nishing water power for all industries that might locate In the district as well as power for tho electrification of the Union Pacific railroad. Mr. Carroll advocated prompt action of tho Chamber of Commerce in getting behind the movement. Mr. Halllgan spoko on this proposed project and the necessity of drainage that irrigation and drainage went band in hand, that ono was as necessary as the other. Mr. Halllgan gave his hearers consider able Insight into Irrigation matters, a problem of which ho lias made a study. Harry Moran, tho newly olected sec- j rotary of the Chamber of Commerce, was introduced, and mado reference to the good work the association hopes to accomplish and asked that the officers be given hearty support from the members. Commissioner Larson, of the Omaha commercial club, who came hero upon invitation, had made a survey of the town during' tho day, and in his tnlk gave a resume of his observations, tolling us wherein we wore lacking and suggesting remedies, and nt the same time commended us for the good things we have done or aro doing or hope to do. Mr. Larson presented statistics showing that as to general conditions North Platte is above the average town of its size the country over.
