women is politics.
Tho entrance of women Into politics
In North Platte Tuesday rosulted In
tho most sweopliiK victory tbo city lias
ovor known, n 1b ovldonced by tho
fact that A. P. Strrttz, the candidate
they most hoartlly supported for may
or was elected by a vote nearly 200
greater than tbo combined vote of tho
othdr three candidates. The total
vote cast by tho women was nearly if
not' altogether as largo as that cast
by tho
men, which disproves the
so frequently made that wo -
soruon so ireiiuuimy uiuuu mm " .
in on would not avail thomsolvos of J
of suffrage were such accorded them.
It Is true that In tho election Tuosday
thore was an Issue that strongly ap
pealed to them, yot oven had this is
sue not boon so strongly presented we
aro confident tho woman vote would
havo fairly strong.
In cntorlng the campaign tho wo
men recognized tho value of a thor
ough solidification of their forces and
proceeding along this lino bullded an
organization that could not have boon
stronger nor more efficient. They ap
pointed as members of their commit
tees women of known energy and In
fluence a bouse to house canvas was
niailo and on election day thoy saw to
It that every woman who was favor
able to Mr. Streltz got to the polls and
voted. Their organization ns n
whole was as porfoct and as effectual
as any wo havo ever known In city or
county politics.
The appointment of two women In
each ward as Judges and clerks of
icloctlon produced an air of refine
ment at tho voting places, and tho
difference In tho general demeanor of
the mon voterB as compared with pre
vious years was noticeable.
Tho Trlbuno In mightily pleased
that tho women evinced such an. Inter
est Tuosday and it hopes that tho
same Interest will bo taken In future
elections.
