SUBSCRIPTION RATES: One Year by Mall In Alliance... $1.25 One Year by Carrier lu AdTanco..?lXO Eutcrcd at North Platte, Nebraska, Poatomco us Second Class Matter. TUESDAY, APRIL 85, 1010. Tlic Reason Why. The Tribune 'will support every re publican candidate with but one ex ception, and that cxccptl'on is the can didate for governor. Tills is not be ciuibo Judge- Sutton is not a good man for tho position, but rather because Western Nebraska has a candidate who is also a good man, democrat though ho be. Wo will support Kolth Neville becauso through a close ac quaintance with him for thirty years wo know Ho Is honest and sincere, lie has the ability to glvo us a business-like administration of state af fairs. Ho cannot be influenced or swerved frcm tho path of duty, Ho favors greater publicity of tho stato to tho end that our vacant lands may bo settled upon and our popula tion and commercial activities be In creased. Ho bellovcs tho Irrjgutlon Interests of Western Nebraska should be given more attention, and particularly as to tho water rights of tho state, He Is an ndvocato of good roads, Ho is u Western Nebraska man, born and reared in Wostorn Nebras ka, and for tho first time In tho his tory of tho stato, Western Nobraska lias been recognized in the selection iGf a candidate for a stato office, there fore lie appeals on this scoro to every Voter who Is loyal to western Nebras ka, Ho has not been a professional pol itician and has no "soores" to settle with old political onomles, nor po Utcal friends to reward. Ho Is us friendly to the day laborer as ho Is to the banker ho Is a "man of tho pcoplo." Ills every day life In North Platte has been as an opon book; his every act has bouu that of a good citizen, His blood Is not stagnant, it Is rich and runn free; he can coach a foot ball team, yell at a baso ball game, break blue rocks from a trap or bring down his share of pratrlo chickens or ducks, and us a disciple of Izaak Watton ho Is an adept. In fact Keith Novlllo Is a real live man in every particular, was born and reared In n real Uvo section of Ne braska, and after next January will bo the real live govornor of tho real live state in the union Let All the People Know. President Wilson frankly stated his cubc ugulnot Germany do fur as the submarine controversy is concerned, lie 'thoroln laid down certain baBlc principles to which assent Is gener ally given. However, further disclos ures In connection with tho operation of tho Dopartaient cf Justice suggest that the president has not Included all tho grounds for his decision in his cornmunlcatlbn to his countrymen that ho lias not taken tho public en tirely into his corifUlcnco. Veiled hints como from Washington' ad mysterious visits aro exchanged between Stato and Justice department heads, of quiet conferences at tho Whlto Houso, and with the activity of agents of tho gov ernment In various centers of indus try wo get suggestions of a secret that Is bolng kept cloBOly guarded. If, there aro othor reasons for a rupiuro oi relations with Germany t.hnn Is contained lu tho subsca con troversy, it Hhculd bo mndo known. Tho Amorleon people are' willing to cdnfldcntly follow their president in his efforts to up'hold tho honor and dignity of their country and to main tain the efficiency of Its government, everywhere .cn earth, but when It domos to a question of Avar or oven a dlplomutlc rupture with another na tion, they should know all tho facts. What, If- anything, of vital moment Is tho president holding back that haB to do: with our relntlnns with Ger many? Onmhii Ileo. It has always been a mooted ques tion us to "wlio struck Hilly Patter son." hilt .IlinVO In tin nilMtlnn nci ,tn who struk DlUy Urynn and br "titer unarioy. Again it has iheen demon strated that the follows who hall from tho "short grass" soctlon of Nebras ka not only fight strong but fight Talr. As tho man largely responsible for releasing Nobraska domocraey from tho strangle hold of the llryans, Keith Novlllo will probably receive inovd or less nttontlon from editorial writers on tho metropolitan dallies and tho wrltors in curront review magazines. Whon you read over tho list of tho republican candidates for county of fices, ycu can't holp but feel thnt they constitute a mighty strong ticket, a ticket that will win with hands down In November.
