Boosters Take Two From Bridgeport.
The victorious march of the Bridge
port ball tenm was checked Satur
day and Sunday when the North I'latte
Boosters took both games, the first
by a score of five to four and the sec
ond by a seven to four score. In
Saturday's game the Boosters played
errorless ball and secured four runs
In the fourth and one In the seventh,
and took six hits olf Tibbltts. Bridge-1
port made throe runs in the third and
one in the ninth, took seven hits off
Artley and were credited with live
errors.
For Sunday's game a special train
was run over the branch, about seventy-five
leaving -this turmlnal, but at
all stations along the line passengers
were picked up, nnd" when Northport
was reached Hit re wero 250 or 300
on board.
About a thousand people witnessed
Sunday's game, and the fans wero un
usually PiithUBiH8tIe, the North Platte
bunch occupying one section of the
grand stand and yelling themselves
hoarse In this game the supposedly
matchless Maples occupied the box
for Bridgeport, and while he struck
out fourteen Boosters, he was in turn
touched up for ten hits. The Boost
ers secured two runs In the fourth,
two In tho fifth, two In the seventh and
one in the ninth. Five errors were
marked up against the Boosters, but
as a rule theyo were not costly.
Bridgeport secured two runs In the
third, one In the eighth and one la
tho ninth, took six hits off Luby and
made threo errors. Features of Sun
day's game wero a one-hand catch by
Grimm, two double plays by the Boost
ers, and the batting of Bright and
Gettman. In tho two games Bright
made three three-baggers and threo
two-baggers.
Tho North Platte betting contingent
returned with six or eight hundred
dollnrs of Bridgeport money.
Owing to an accident to the en
gine at Llaco, the special did not
reach here until 1:30 at night, two
hours later than scheduled.
Thoso who mado the trip express
themselves as having had a very sat
