Buchanan & Patterson City Council Meets The city councol met In special ses sion Tuesday evening and passed to a second reading the ordinance call ing tho special election to vote pav ing bonds. There wns some question ns to whether or not an ordinance call ing fo ra bond election should not lay ovor for thirty days under the referen dum act, and this together with tho re quest that the park proposition bo sub mitted with the paving proposition, caused a postponement of the final passage of the ordinance until the reg ular meeting next Tuesday evening. An estimate of expenses for tho fis cal year beginning August 2nd, was presented by Chairmnn Van Cleave of the finance committee. Tho contract for lighting the streets of the city was considered and referred back to tho conference committee for some corrections. J. G. Deeler addressed the council on a drainage proposition which tho farmers In tho valley between North Platte and O'Fallon aro considering. It Is believed that the system as pro posed by tho fanners would material ly assist In taking care of the Hood waters which at times flow through this city. If this can bo proven, tho city will bo asked to give financial assistance In building the system. Tho matter, however, Is yet In nn indefinite shape, and the council could therefore take no action. Find More Carcasses. While In the Brady section Wednes day Sherift Salisbury and County At torney Glbbs discovered tho car casses of four more cattle. The throats of the animals had been cut and tho brands destroyed. These cattle had been stolen and evidently re-branded, but fearing detection the thieves had killed them. Tho carcasses of over thirty head of cattle have been found in this condition In the Drady vicin ity during the past month or two, and naturally tho cattle growers arc becoming righteously indignant over these depredations.
