Nainara made a report on drainage
For taking care of the water which
conies from the west, Engineer Mc
Namara recommends that the drain
age ditch on the south side of the
track wont of tho city bo cleaned and
used as a waterwny that will dlschRrgo
Into tlio Surbtirbau ditch. However,
in order to take care of this wator the
Irrigation ditch would need be en
larged for a distance of about four
and one-half miles, This work would
cost tho city about $2,000.
On tho north side of the track lie
rccommonds that a road ditch load
lng from the railroad north to the
Plntlo Valley Irrigation ditch bo
cleaned and onlargod and used to
carry tho wator Into the Irrigation
ditch, This later ditch would need
bo onlargod for a dtstunce of two miles,
and tho work north of tho track would
cost about $000. lie also makes pro
vision to take caro of other surplus
wator north of the track by a ditch
through the Blrgo and Dllllon lands.
In tho city tho streets running east
and west should bo made to drain the
city.
Afternoon Wedding.
A pretty and impressive wedding
was solemnized at tho church of Our
Savior at 4 o'clock Wednesday aftor
noon when Miss Hazel Smith became
tho brldo of Chester William Doram.
Dean Bowkor performed the ceremony
and Mrs. Bowkor played tho wedding
march. Tho brldo was attired In a
dainty gown of white embroidery and
carled a largo boquet of whlto flowers.
Her veil was hold In place by a
wreath of small flowers. Sho was given
away by her grandfather G. II. Smith.
Miss Esther Schwalger acted as maid
of honor. Sho woro a yellow messallno
gown under a gold laco drapo and

mony a number of friends and rolatlves
attonded the reception and dinner
given nt tho homo of tho groom'a par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. James Doram which
had been tastefully decorated with
yollow and whlto (lowers and ribbons.
Mr. and Mrs. Doram .loft at six
o'clock for eastern points. Tho wed
ding gifts were numerous and beauti
ful. Mr. nnd Mrs. Doram will reside In

ness. Library Hoard Makes Report.
Tho library-board, or rather the sec
retary, Miss Annie Kramph, made a re
port for the past year to tho city
council Tuesday evening. Tho ro
cclpts for lust year were $1,079,13', nnd
tho expenses $1,147.73, leaving a bal
ance of $531.40. The., library has at
present 3,227 volumes, 201 volumes
having been added during the pust
year, and fourteen destroyed or lost.
The borrowers number 2,484, a gain
of (135 during tho past year.
Chas. McDonald, Dr. N. McCabo and
E. T, Tramp, whoso term as momborB
of the library board had expired, woro
re-appolnted by tho council.

Here Is tho formula used by the gov
ernment experts in killing prairie
dogs, resulting In tho extermination
of as high as 00 per cent of tho animals
from the first spreading of tho poison
nnd practically wiping out lnrge towns
with the second spreading:
Thirteen quarts oats, 1 ounce strych
nlno, 1 ounce baking soda, 2 table
spoons gloss starch, 1 tablespoon corn
syrup, 1-8 ounce saccharine, 1, pint
water.
Dissolve strychnine In water and
bring to boll.
Dissolve starch In sniftll amount of
wator BOjiarato from strychnine.
Dlssolvo soda In smnll amount of
water soparatoly.
After strychnine bolls, add starch
until cooked.
Take from fire; add 'soda slowly;
then add syrup ami saccharine.
1'our mixture over ontg and stir
thoroughly.
