The contract for tho new brldgo across tho river cast of town was awarded Friday evening to tho Omaha Structural Steel Co. for $36,000. This Is for tho structure and fills complete, Tho brldgo will havo a twenty foot roadway, and tho 800-foot Jills on either sldo will havo a cement filling, thus Insuring solid and permanent approaches. This cement roadway, however, Is not part of tho contract price, but will bo built out of the res idue of tho $50,000 bonds voted. Thero wcro a numbor of bids filed, tho majority of them for a concrete arch bridge, but in all Instances ex cept one tho bids wcro not within tho $60,000. Whllo tho commissioners considered tlio concrete bids and would probably favored tho allowance of a contract for that stylo bridge bad it not been posslblo to do so, tho stato engineer, wo are Informed, stated that, ho would not sign a contract for any structuro other than steel. Ho seems to bo opposed to concrete bridges. Tho successful bidders announco that they will havo tho brldgo com pleted before cold weather sets In this fall. Echclbcrry Improving. Charley Echelberry, who was badly bruised last Thursday afternoon on tho cemetery road when his car turned turtle, is improving rapidly. Tho loft sldo of his face was Bklnned and bruised, and his left arm badly wrenched and bruised. For a tlmo It was feared ho was seriously Injured Internally, but the Internal pain 's now practically gone. Tho accident was duo to a rear wheel dropping off, He attempted to jump from tho car, but one of the legglns he was wear ing caught and held him and the car turned over on him. He was rendered unconscious and lay In that condition for about ten minutes until rescued by a party of autolsts enroute to tho shooting tournament. May 20, 1915.
