It is rather strange that tho gnats,
which jiow, and will for tho ncrt
threo woeks, provo a great annoy
anco, aro not found east of Kearney
nor west of Julcsburg, though north
and south this gnat territory cr.tends
from Oklahoma up into South Dakota.
In tho early days tho prosenco of tho
gnats wero said to bo duo to cattlo
affected with Texas fever, but this
proved not truo. Perhaps the most
plausible theory was advanced thirty
years ago' .by Sam Watts, who con
tended that' tho territory in which the
gnats are found Is covered by a gulf
current which propagates them.

WIRTHMOR WAISTS sell at one dollar always, and they are
always in a class apart and vastly superior to other Waists ohtainahle at
this price. The care of workmanship, the neatness of finish, the pretty
