This plot of ground is to bo used for the tnbernaclo meeting. The ordinance was read and upon motion tho rules woro suspended and. It was read by tltlo a second time and was then put on Its final passage. It was opposed by Councllmcn stone ana Cohagon on the grounds that It es tablishes n dangorous precedent and that It endangers tho adjneont build-1 Ings to catching fire and might pos- slbly cause- some difficulty In collect-, ing the insurance in case tney were burned Representatives of the different, . , i. . f it i cuurcucs duck oi uiu movement wuii- present and they explained that they wnnlil tnkn nvnrv nrpcniitlnn to truant I against fire and would have a watch man In the building day and night and a flro hoso In the building. They also assured tho council that tho building would be torn down as soon as tho mcotlngs woro closed. Ofllcor Jones wn.s confirmed by tho council Tuesday evening us a member of tho pollco force. Ho was opposed by Councllmcn Porter and VanClcave, not that they know anything against him but they wished to investigate some of tho stories that had been circulated against him. IIo sug gested that tho A. O. U. Tho samo offer was made by that lodgo two years ago but it was turned down. No action was taken Tuosday ovenlng. This matter Is ono that should re ceive cosldorntlon. It would afford a plnco for tho flro truck whoro It would always be handy and would be in no, danger of fire from othor cars. It would also centralize tho city busi ness and afford a meeting plnco for tho council. . - Tho matter of rovision of the plumbing ordinance wns presented by water Commissioner Welch and af ter somo discussion and hearing of suggestions for changes it was turned over to tho ordinance committco with Instructions that that committco should meet with tho water commis sioner and city engineer and fix up the ordinance suitably.
