No. 10 (wiyww err f DERRYREHRY Ss FORRES 1IUY HARDWARE COMPANY LOCAL AND PERSONAL Negotiations wore recently con sumuted whereby the Arm of Dorry borry & Forbes bought the stock of the North PIntto Hardware & Furni ture Co., nnd they will ndd it to their already complete stock of furnituro nnd hardware. It is the intention of the firm to move their hardware, furniture and undertaking from their present loca tion into the buildlug now occupied by tho North PIntto Hardware &. Fur nituro Co., and in their present loca tion they will handlo exclusively Im plements. Invoicing was begun this week and as soon as it is completed and a few changes made in tlio store building the move will be made. The company will also take into partnership with them in tho imple ment store Harry York and Robert Dean, both of whom have been em ployed by them for a number of years. Mr. Dean has been employed by them for the past seven years and Mr. York fort ho past five years. Tho firm of Dorryberry & Forbes is now in its sixth year of operation in this city. It was formerly Workman & Derrybcrry and Mr Forbes worked for that company for two years before buying in with Mr. Derryherry. Mr. Dorryberry hns been in business In this city for tho past ten years. In all those years their business has in creased rapidly. Mr. Forbes stated this morning that their reason for tho change was to givo better service and closer atten tion to their trade. Ho said that they expect to make their storo one of the largest and best equipped stores In Nebraska. Tho North Platte Hard vn re & Furnl-; turo Co. has been In operation here but a few months, having bought out the A A. Schatz Co. last spring. It is owne.1 by a corporation formed by J. Q WiUox, Iiyere and Everett Fink and A. T. Yost. Masons in Annual lSamiuet j The sixth anniversary of the dedica-. Hon of tho Masonic templo was cole-, brated last evening by a banquet in their hall which was attended fiy about four hundred fifty Masons, with 1 their wives, families and ladies At 6:30 an excellent dinner was served to tho four hundred fifty people and folowing this a play was given by the local talent. Following this dancing nnd other diversions wero in dulged in until a late hour. Tho entire banquet ami entertain ment was Mvca by th'j men, their pre--paring tho dinner, waiting' on tho tables and washing up all the dishes. The dinner was prepared under tho supervision of J. II. Tiowker received word yes terday frojn MisB,.,Gertr,ude Whiston, newjy appointed superintendent for the Good Samaritan hospital, announc ing that she would start from Detroit tor North Platte Saturday ewming of this week. At the meet ing it was announced that tho next meeting, the first meeting in March, would be tho regular meeting for tho election of officers .TEFFEKS TRANSFERRED TO NEBRASKA DIVISION A bulletin received by wire at tho local railroad olllcos about five o'clock last evening nnnouueed that Win. Jof fers, superintendent of tho Wyoming division, had been transferred to tho Nebraska division of tho U. P. Ho will succeed Win. Cahlll, who can, if ho so desires, resume his former position as conductor on tho Omnha-North Platte run. Mr. Jeffers Is succeeded on tho Wyoming division by a Mr. Urophy, a former passenger conductor running into this city, but of late pay master for tho Union Pacific nt Og den, Supt. Jeffers' transfer to tho Ne braska division Is received with much satisfaction by engine nnd trainmen of this city, for they recognize In him a thoraough and practical railroad man who treats tho employes fairly and by so doing receives from tho men their best service. Mr. Jeffers began his rallrond career In this city as a messenger boy In tho office of tho assistant superintendent, and his ascendency lins'been rapid yot In all caso merited. There an excellent three course supper was served at eight o'clock and it wns followed by toast which lasted until a late liour. Following the toasts, E. S Davis, who ncted iib toastmaster, took snapshots of tho party which consisted of comic post card pictures In an old worn out camera and they all recited tho free man's oath. This affair will from now on bo made an annual affair by tho local men. Last evening was tho sec ond banguet held and it was pro nounced very excellent. Following is tho toast list: Reading.
