Wednesday morning from Lincoln

taken up on a sentence of from one

erts was taken there to be held a

for the murder of Vernon Connefl.
J. T. Murphy foreman of the 13. &
13 gang in the local yards, return
ed Wednesday from O'Fallons where
he was called to do some work. He
reports having seen two ilocks of
crows in that vicinity that wore the
largest ho lias seen In this country.
There wore estimated over a thous
and birds In each Hock. They were
feeding in the cornfields along tho
tracks. Crows as a rule a scarce
article in this vicinity. Ho stated that
they made more nolso than Crowe's
orchestra.

Georgo Schatz, now a resident of
Ogden, Utah, has been visiting rela

Tho Literary department of the
Twentieth Century Club will meet
Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 5th, at tho
home of Mrs. W. W. Skinner, Locust
and Sixth street. An attractive pro
gram has been arranged which will
begin at ! p. in. Current topics will
occupy tho first half hour of the pro
gram which will bo followed by a
reading by Mrs. E. II. Flowers. The
regular magazino study will bo dis
pensed with and Mrs. McLane and
