SUBSCRIPTION RATES: Ono Ycnr by Mall lnAdrniicc....$l.S3 One Year by Carrier in A (h mice. .$1.50 Entered at North Platte, Nebraska, Poatofllco as Second Class Matter. FRIDAY SEPT. 18, 1914. Planning for Associated Clinrltlcs. The ministers of the city met tho early part of tho week to further tho plans for the formation of an associa ted charities society. At this meeting all tho pastors were present, as was also Mayor Evans, and Rev. Fr. Mc Dald and the mayor were appointed a committee to confer with the direc tors of the Chamber of Commerco and Unite On some plaft for a systematic and' business method of distributing charities. Tho proposed plan is to have all churches, lodas and busincs organiz ations pool their charity donations and havo them distributed through one channel either a committee or an executive This committee would In vestigate each call for aid. hence only the deserving ones would be given helpj and this plan would also do away with indiscriminate distribution of fuel, food and clothing. In tho past sorao needy families have bosn over supplied with with certain ar ticles, while others Just as needy have received nothing. Umtor the associa ted plan, the commltteo would know Just what each needy ono had been supplied, thus evading any possibility of duplication. Then again North Platte, like all otlvr towns, has some "grafters" among the needy, they play on tho sympathy of ono church or lodgo ono day, and on another the next day, with the. result that they reoMvo moro than they need whllo others moro modc3t actually suffer for tho necessities of life. Under tho associ ated plan this will not occur. Tho associated charittes has long bqcn needed in North Platte, It Is the only way to deal with tho charity giving problem.
