Whittaker, t Vermillion. A. F. Stroitz and son Ferdinand left Wednesday morning for tho Keystone vicinity to look over some homestead lands. They are contemplating starting a game reserve if they can gctno of tho lakes in the forest reserve terri tory. Conrad Kreuger and Miss Myrtlo Keath, both of the Wallace vicinity, wore granted a license to wed Wednes day from the county judge. The groom is n farmer of the Wallace vicinity they will make their homo on a farm. The wedding took place yesterday at the home of the bride's parents. They drove over in Mr. Conant's car and they report crops along tho routo in the best of condition. H. C. VanDoran of this city has signed up to play with the Lexington band at Gothenburg on the Fourth of July. They are evidently going to have a big celebration at Gothenburg as thoy havo engaged the North Platte band also. Mrs. W. II. McDonald and daughter Miss Janet are expected home tomorrow from Chicago. Mrs. McDonald went east to attend the graduation of her daughter, and also to represent the local woman's club in the national con vention of federated clubs held in Chi cago this week. Tho chickens are numerous in that vicinity and It is now the breeding season. The new rural routes, Nos.' two and three, were started on every day ser vico this weok. Tho routes have been established only three years and' at the beginning they were only traveled overy other d.vy. Postmaster Davis has been attempting for somo timo to get them put on evory day service and has finally succeeded. This calls for another carrier and Ralph Alden has taken tho place temporally. It will also mean an extra salary of about $1200 per year for this city. Dr. Mitchell, Dentist, announces the removal of his ofllce to the second floor of the new Building and Loan Building. 43-3 Mr. and Mra. Isaac Watts and daugh ter Miss Helen and son Russell arrived in this city Wednesday and are visiting ho re this week at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Longford. Mr. Watts is well known here, having lived here as a boy. Ho is now located at Corninp, Ia. John Tucker of the postoilice force is nursing a badly sprained wrist this week as a result of tripping over a wire in his yard. He fell with his hand under him and struck in such a way that his wrist was badly sprained. II has it in u splint box now and is unable to use it. Ira Vance, residing north of this city was placod under peace bonds Saturday by Sheriff Salisbury. Some of tha neighbors complained that he had threatened to shoot them up and phonad In the sheriff to come out. The sheriff drove out in the afternoon and settled the difficulty. Rasmussen of Chicago.1 The wed ding took place at the Holy Angels church in Chicago and Rev. Father Griffin officiated. Mr. Smith is a son of Mr. and Mrs, J. I. Smith of this city and is well known here, having lived here all h."8 life until the past few years and grad uated out of the local school. He is now instructor of athletics in the public schools atNegaunee, Michigan, and has been encaged for next year with a sub stantial raise in salary. He has been engaged to take charge of the public playground work here this summer and he and his bride arrived yesterday morning from Chicago. A man by name of John Bell was ar rested Wednesday afternoon 'in the Union Pacific yards by Officer A. C. Combs on the charge of trespassing. He refused to give his name, but upon a search it was found that he had a number of letters on his person addressed to John Ball. He is either a clever crook or he is demented as he gavo a very peculiar story. He threatened to go to Rresidont Wilson with his ense and prophesied many dire things upon the person of the officer. Information was sent by Sheriff Salis bury to a town in Ohio asking if such a man was wanted there. His letters were all sent from the east and it is sus pected that he is wanted there. Oh You Cedar Moss, will bo delivered by phoning Blk 3G8, Mrs. Thresa Ilolderman. The lecture of Cyius Nusbam, the first lecturer on the Chautauqua pro gram Wodcesday evening, was much enjoyed. Mr. Nusbaum took, as h's subject, "Life," and he dealt with tho practical side of life in a way that was j botu interesting and entortaining. His remarks were interspersed with enough humor that at no time did his subject drng. Earl Inman appeared Wednesday before Judge Grimes and entered a plea of guilty to horse stealing. Apply A GOOD SHOW In spite of the inclement weather Monday night, tho big tent of Busby's Minstrels was filled with hundreds of people who had come prepared for a good time and they got their money's worth. The tendency of show press agents is to exaggerate the show's real qualities in the advertising posters, but Busby's are altogether too modest in advertising. Those colored dames and gents certainly know how to preform and when it comes to delivering the music those familiar tales of Beethoven and Mozart simply fade from memory.
