Julius Krutchnitts, former traffic manager for the Harriman lines passed through the city yesterday in his pri vate car. Miss Tyronne Winkleman returned yesterday afternoon trom Fremont whero she visited over Sunday with her parents. J. H. Durbin, father of County Treasurer A. "N. Durbin, left yesterday morning for Ranchester, Wyo. to spend two weoks visiting relatives and friends. Fred Pierson, banker from Suther land, William Thorning and H. D. Flamming of Sutherland were in the city yesterday looking after business matters at the court house. Corbin Jones, Bert Meadows, W. R. Powell and Mllledgo Bullard drove over" south of Curtis Sunday on a fishing trip. They brought home fifteen black bass and three bull heads. The case of Emma M. Knight vs. Charles C. Lunkwitz wasup for a hear ing yesterday in the county court and waa continued on request of the plain iff. The suit is for ejectment nnd it will como up for hearing later. Mr. Wirt was formerly located at Sidney, succeeding Mr. Smith there. He Will have jurisdiction over the road between this city and Cheyenne. Road Case a Hard Fight A petition for the changing of road No. 240, located in Fox Creek vicinity was brought before the county commis sioners yesterday and they granted the petition with a few changes. N. F. House and Alvin Feather appeared for the petitioners and R. L, Ryan and Thomas Peterson appeared with a remonstrance against changing the road as petitioned. Attorney M. E. Crosby appeared for the remonstra tors. The case was hard fought and the controversy was over changing the road into the canyon or leaving it to run on top of the hill. Mr. Ryan con ceded that tho road in Fpx. Creek can yon would take up too much of his hay meadow and that on the hill It would aceomodate more people and give better satisfaction. O'Connoll Friday on the charge of petit larceny from the ' Union Pacific company and wore fined $3 and costs each. Five men were arrested last week by Officers Wiedman and Combs but one of them was turned looso us there was no caso against him. The four who were fined were Gust Shigar ides, John Blakos," John Pairesis and Thomas llakos. Dixon, The Jeweler. A contract was received last week from Carl R. Markley of Hillsdale, Wyo., who has boen engaged as one of the instructors in the high school for next year. He will have chnrge of the English department in the place of Miss Graves who resigned. Mr. Mark ley is a graduate of Wabash college, one of the old aristocratic colleges of the east, and is a well qualified instruc tor. He majored in English in college and was also a star in basket ball and track work. Ho will fill a long felt need in the local schools in assisting in tho coaching of the baskctbnll and track teams. Tho Degree of Honor will hold a social this aftornoon at tho homo of Mrs, John Saltow on East Eighth Street.
