Talk of Building
New Court House
W. C. Lewman, architect and builder
of the now court house that was re
cently completed nt Lexington, was fn
the city yesterday afternoon in confer
ence with the county commissioners
and a number of the board of directors
of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr.
Lewman had with him the plans of the
Lexington building and showed figures
aa to the cost of construction.
The county commissioners and n few
of the boosters of the city made u visit
to Lexington n short time ago for the
purpose of looking it oyer. At that
time it was not quite complete, but the
men brought home a favorable report
on the efficiency of such a building for
Lincoln county.
The matter has been taken up with
the Chamber of Commerce and plans
are being made for a got-to gether
mass meeting to bo held in the near
future, at which timo the question of a
new court house house for this county
will bo widely discussed, At this pro
posed meeting, men from all parts of
the county will bo invited and the
matter -will be taken in hand with the
object in view of getting a new building
here. The old building is entirely in
adequate to meet the needs of the
county and several of the county
officials are obliged to have offices in
in other buildings, which makes a con
tinual expense for the county.
