There was the largest atten dance since tho organizatiou of the as sociation. Great interest is being manifested in these monthly meetings and in order that the work and influence of the organization may be more far reaching it was decided to invite all ministers of the county to participate in the meetings. Tho planwns discussed and approved whereby tho association may go to the wenker churches and hold its sessions occasionally. Then two or three min isters will remain with the church for a,day or two and conduct services. Thus is thought that tht churches will be of greater benefit to each other. Another important thing which was adopted yesterday was the setting aside of February 15 as n "Men's Go t& Church Sunday in North Platte." It shall be the hope and aim of the vnr ious churches in tho city to secure the attendance of just as many men as possible to tho services on that day. A committee was appointed who have charge of this matter and they will make their plans known later. A working program was also adopted by the pastors which wo givo in full. This shows exactly how the ministers of the city are united for the work of Jesus Christ in this city. WORKING PROGRAM. Whereas, in the interest of Christian brotherhood and church unity, it is nec essary to work together in absolute harmony. First, that in our pastoral visitation wo shall not visit members of other churches with the purpose in view of upbuilding our own church to the detri ment of our sister churches. ' Second, time when in our pastoral work we find a family not affiliated with any church, but having a prefer ence, weshall take the name nnd ad dress of said family and give samo to the pastor of the church for which they have expressed a preference. Third, that wo shall publicly instruct nnd urgo tho members of our respec tive churches to abide by the foregoing agreements, both in spirit and practice. In recognition of the fact that we en dorso the foregoing resolution we do hereby affix our names: John L. Bar ton, Baptist church; II. G. Knowlcs, Christian church; Benj. A Cram, M. E. church; J. C. Christie, Presbyterian church; Joseph J. Bowker, Episcopal church; C. B. Harman, Lutheran church. At tho next meeting Dean Bowker of the Episcopal church and C. B. Harman of the Lutheran church will present papers. The place of meeting will bo announced Inter. Proceedings of the County Board. ORIGIN OF THE HARP. DURBIN, County Treasurer, State of Nebraskn. I r . County of Lincoln. B " Subscribed and sworn to before me tho 5rdday of February, 1914. , .; . :l V - c. w. yost, County Clerk. We do hereby certify that tho abovo statemont of Albert N. Durbin, County Treasurer of Lincoln County, Nebrosku, is a complete andnccurato sum Evolved From tho Lyre of the High Priest of Osiris. The history of tile piano founts as a day compared to the harp. We have authentic records that as early as 1800 B. O. the first lyre watt evolved from tho nlnd of the high priest of Oalrls. who In one of bin dully walks along tho banks of the liver Nllo found an empty tortoise shell spanned with dried ligaments. Happening to strike it, he noticed that It gave forth pleas lug Hounds, nnd he at once made an Instrument on the plan of the tortoise shell. From the ly it It was but an isisj stop to the harp, now tho most fntnoiri instrument in the world. Mlleslua, one of tho Phoenician priests, carried It with hlui In his conquest to Ireland. and thore he plifnteil It among tho inn- Blc loving Celts in 1200 11. C. Tho royal Instrument became u controlling fea ture In druldlcal worship, and tho harp ist or hard ranked with royalty, the prophet and tho priest. The drulils advanced tho hnrp from eleven to thirty-two strings and crowned their ef forts in Us Improvement by tho evolu tion of tho pillar, which lias ever since found universal adoption. Our modern hnrp consists of forty five or forty-aevon strings, seven ped als ono for each note In tho octave anil tho wonderful Instrument shares with tho piano anil organ the faculty of being iiutonoinous that Is to say, It needs no accompaniment und furnishes both molody mid harmony.
