Doputy Sheriff Thomas Watts has resigned his position with this county and will go elsewhere and enter into some other business. He has been in office jioro for the past two years and has discharged his duties regularly but did not like the close confinement which that' office required. Two Fine Dogs Stolen. It. W. Weiborn, residing at 302 West Eighth street, had two fine Airdalo pups stolen from his dog house Wednes day evening while he was away from home. The pups aro only three'months old but are very valuable, having cost him $50 each at the age of thirty days. The Airdale dogs are used for hunting bear becauso of their fighting qualities and their absolute fearlessness, and are very high priced. Mr, Wellborn bought these in Thermopolis, Wyo., about two months ago and will raise them for his own use. Tfiree men were arrested by the po lice yesterday morning for being drunk. Thoy were John Faye, J. W. Ballard and a man by name of Henry Selby, from Joplin Missouri. Thoy appeared before Police Magistrate Walker and were fined $1 and costs each and were given a jail sentence of fifteen days. The first two of the three men have been "spiked" at all of the saloons and are being held until they tell who fur nished them with liquor1, and the third is a man-who is traveling with his wife and they have been camping in the city for some time in a wagon. The wife appeared before the chief of police and promised that they would leave town at once if her husband was released. Every ofTortwill be made to discover who furnished the other two with booze and if hois apprehended he will bo prosecuted to the lull extent of the law. County Attorney George N. Gibbs arrived home Wednesday evening with his new bride from Jtheir wedding trip to Kansas City, St. Louis nnd othur points. He has been gone from hero about two weeks. For the present they will take rooms and in the spring Mr. Gibbs will build a new bungalow in tho west part of the city. A social danco was hold last evening at the Masonic hall and a large number were in attendance. Tho dance was given by a number of the young men of the city and a very pleasant evening was enjoyed. City Attorney James T. Keefe re turned yeBterday morning from a visit of several weeks with his paronts at Sioux City, la., while there ho suf fered an attack of illness and was not able to return home as soon as he had intended. It was feared Wednesday that she would have to undergo art opera tion for appendicitis and all arrange ments had been made, but yesterday morning, she was suddenly relieved from pain and tho attending physician advised that an operation was unnec cessary at present. Miss Dixon was compelled to return some weeka ago from hor school work in Omaha on account of a nervous breakdown, and sinco she returned she had been im proving until tho last few days when she was taken with the sudden attack of appendicitis. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reynolds and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Neville enter tained forty young people last evening at the home of the former in favor of Mies Carrie Goodwill. The early part of tho ovening was devoted to 500, Mrs. Earl Hamilton and Jim Clinton winning the first prizes and the consolation prizes wero awarded to Miss Edith Patterson and Jim Keofe. After the card games a delicious two course lunch was served, following which dancing was indulged in until midnight.
