Ex-county Commissioner G. W.
Roberts, of Maxwell, who resigned
some time ago on account of ill health,
was taken to the P. & S. ho'spital yes
terday for medical treatment.
The report that Miss Edna Hamilton
was visiting in Omaha, which appeared
in these pages in the last issue, is er
roneous. She has been in the city all
the time and is nursing on a special
case at the North side hospital.
Mesdames S. R. Derryberry and M.
J. Forbes gave a miscellaneous shower
Wednesday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Forbes, 80G west Sixth street, in
honor of MrB. A. F. Oestrich. A
number of friends were in attendance
nnd the bride was tho recipient of many
useful and beautiful presents. At the
close of the afternoon, light refresh
ments wore served.
The county commissioners were in
session Wednesday, the principal busi
ness transacted being the allowance of
claims. The bill of ?5,G00 presented by
tho state for the cost of keeping our
insane patients at the hospitals
was disallowed. In order to pay this
claim jt wijl be necessary to make a
special, levy, but this will not be done
Until the, state goes into court and se
cures a judgment against the county.

ployes and $2.32 is the average daily
pay per employe. It will thus be seen

more than the Buriington. During the
past year tho Burlington decreased the
avrage daily pay tan cents, while dur
ing the same period tho Union Pacific
increased nine cents.

Nebraska, issued an order of attachment
for the sum of $21.75 in an action pen
ding before him, wherein Albert E.
Timmerman is plaintiff and G. V.
Carroll, first and real name unknown,
defendant, that property consisting of
one box of merchandise, the contents
of which are one rug 9x12 nnd a quan
tity of bedding and dishes, has been
attached under said order. Said cause
was continued to the 29th day of Doc.

Couple Arrested on
rious Charges
Warrant were sworn out Wednesday
in tho county court for tho arrest of
Albert Carr and Mrs. Myrtle Noble,
both of Hdrshoy, on tho chargo of
adultery. Tho couplo left Hershey
Tuesday evening and immediately after,
orders wero issued for their arrest.
They were found in the hotel at, Suth
erland and arrested. They woro tried
there boforo n justice, but, upon com
plaint of tho citizens, tho case was
taken to tho county court.
Mr. Carr was sent to North Platto
and turned ovor to the sheriff who put
him in the county jail. Mrs. Noblo
was released by the juRtico on "good
behavior" and loft to return to her
home. Sheriff Salisbury wont to Iler
shoy yesterday afternoon and brought
tho woman here for arraignment
before Judgo Grant.

hood of American Yeomen held their
annual election of officers Tuesday
evening in tho I. O. O. F. hall. A large
number attended nnd u class of ten was
tp.kn into the order.
Following the initiation work, a pro
gram was given by tho lodge members.
Tho Yeoman quartette, mado up of
Dr. and Mrs. Kerr nnd Mr. and Mrs.
Leininger, gave some very good selec
tions. At tho closo of tho program,
the members enjoyed a social hour and
get acquainted meeting, after which a
delicious lunch was served by tho ladies
of tho order.
Plans were mndo for n series of
theatrical performances by tho order,
to bd given during tho winter months.
Nothing definito hns been announced
yet but the entertainments as planned
will be of great interest.
The following officers wero elected at
the meeting: Dr. J. T. Kerr, foreman,
Geo. Anderson, master of ceremonies,
'Miss Eva Spikorman, correspondent;
W. H. Pletchor. master of nccounts,
and Mrs. F-ank Martin, chaplain.
Many friends of Sumnor B, Jones will
be grieved to learn of his death at his
homo in Ocean Park, Calif., Nov. 27th.
Cburo of death was apoplexy. Tho de
ceased lived in and around North Plntte
for muny years. He leaves a wife, four
sons, and two daughters.
I have sold lots to six parties that
arc going to build bungalows on Ninth
St. This will be the future resident
