All the young people's so cieties of tho city are invited to bo present, A musical program by tho young people of the different churches will bo the feature of the service. The show windows of all tho stores in the city have had on their best "bib and tucker" in honor of tho season and some very unique decorations are to bo observed all over town. The one tiat probably attracts the most attention, is the window of the Schatz furniture store. This window is decorated as a Thanksgiying dining room with the table neatly spread with a fine feast. The Ladies of the Presbyterian church will serve their annual supper and bazaar in the basement of the church Dec. 4th. Fancy work, pure food, npron and candy booths open at 4 o'clock. Supper will be served cafeteria style beginning at 5 o'clock. From there they will go to Omaha for a visit of a few days with friends. They expect to be gone about a week. Services at the Chi istian church next Sunday evening, Nov. 30, will be con ducted by the Men's Brotherhood. Sey oral of the men will take part and an elaborate program has beon prepared. The program consists of numbers by the orchestra, special vocal music, dis cussions and addresbes. "TPlak Christmas. Grade Watches. Charged with Poaching Electric Current The North Platte Electric company filed complaints Tuesday in the county court against E. It. Savin and O. J. Keeley, chaiging thorn with stenling cm rent for lighting their homes. The officers have not yet been able to locate Savin, but Keeley was arrested Tuesday evening. He was arraigned later be fore Judgourant and plead not guilty. His hearing was set for tho first part of next week. Both of thpse men, it is alleged, had the light current shut off and the meters taken out some time ago for not navinc up their rent and some time after that, it is alleged that they connected Up the wires upon their own responsibility and have continued to poach their current for light. The company has had considerable trouble along this line and hope all will take warning fnm these cases. Manholes Put in Over City Wells. A foice of men is busy putting in concrete curbings around tho city wells. Eighteen of tho fifty-two wells will be finished up this fall and others will be left until spring. An excavation is being made around the wells and a four-inch concrete wall put in, leaving ample space for a man to work. A man hole will be put in to allow tho men to get in to look after any well that is not woiking properly. Each well is equipped with a valve and can be shut off and repaired separately withont shutting down tho pump. This will facilitate matters to a great extent for the repair gang as heretofore they have had to excavate every timo a well gave trouble. Repair Boilers at Electric Plant. Foreman J. D. Hardy, of tho North Platte Electric Light company is over seeing tho repairing of tho three boilers at tho plant. Hollers 1 and 2 were very heavily limed with mud, and in order to remove the coating, th men had to tako out and replace about COO stay bolts. It will require from a month to six weeks to overhaul each of the boilers and they will all be thoroughly worked over, which will make them almost as good as new. The picture plays at tho Pat this week have been of a very good class and consist of a variety of reels that will interest everyone. North Platte Man Wins "N" Honors Among the thirteen names of Ne braska University men who roceive "N" sweaters, is Victor Hnlligan of this city. In order to qualify for this honor the men must have played in at least three games with teams of the Missouri Valley Association. Halllgan has played in nearly all of the games and has proved a star player. Will Norris of this city has also done some star playing on the freshman team and is pronounced by Coach Stiehm to be"ono of the fastest men that has como into the university. Ho is a North Platte high school man. He will undoubtedly bo on the first team pquad at the university team next year aim win proDnoiy oe u suir pmyur. He was unable to make tho first squad this year on account of being a fresh man. Lumber Company Gets Judgment. The case of tho North Platto Lumber company vs. Elmer Dnggett was called Tuesday aftornoon in the county court. Judgment went to the plaintiif by de fault, tho defendant failing to appear in couit. In this case, tho North Platte Lum ber company used Daggett to collect a bill of $87.05 duo them for merchan dise purchased by the defondant Tho bill amounted to $108.55 and defondant returned merchandise to the amount of $20.G0. The plaintiff prayed for judg ment for the nmount still duo them witli interest at 7 per cent from Aug. 1013. "Travelinc Man" Arrested. A young man giving his name as Gus Walleck was arrested Tuesday evening in tho Union Pacific yard for stealing a rifle on passenger train No. 0. Ho got on tho blind baggago at Choyenne and wns not discovered until they got nearly into North Platte. Tho conductor ar rested him hero and turned him over to the local authorities. He was arraigned Wednesday morning before Judge Grant and plead guilty. Ho was sen tenced to sixtv davs hard labor at the disposition of the judge. Throughout the trial ho assumed a defiant and dis respectful nir and also told the usual hard, luck story. The road was a continua tion of road No. 240 in that vicinity, but was disallowed on account of tho danger of the road site. Residents of that vicinity petitioned for a new road to bo built over tho hills, but upon Inspection, it was found that such a a road would tako them over dangerous and would be a public menace. The commissioners left Wednesday morning foa the north par.tof tho county to inspect the county lino road betweon Lincoln and Logan counties.
