Phono Black 390. Peter McGovern. 005 Locust street. g4.g Sunday Picture Shows Bob Up. The question as to whether North Platte shall allow picture shows to op erate on Sunday has not been definitely settled. Tuesday evening at tho meet ing of the city council an ordinance? ' was introduced prohibiting the opera tion of the shows on Sunday whether or no an admission fee was charged,, and also levying an annual tax of $20 per year on such play houses. Council men Stone andJSchatz, however, held, that the existing ordinance was suffic ient and declined to favor tho passage of ene that more directly governed the shows. We presume this is another question that will finally be submitted to a vote of the people, the same as. was Sunday base ball. Eventually members of the city council will have no prerogatives, they will simply b figureheads, and all questions, no matter how simple, will be decided by a. vote of the people.
