K THE NORTH PLATTE 8EMI-WEEKLY TRIBUNE. K8oMsxM;J$K5 Search Me! CrnEV. PAULEY E. ZARTMANN. D.D. Smrtary Extension Dctwrtmtnl Moody BibU luiittrt dicso i4$ TKXT Search me, O dod. and know ny liourt; try me, nnd Unaxr my thoughts: Jiml bpo If thoro bo any wicked way In mi', and lead mo In tlio way everlasting. Psalm 129.23-21, - There Is a way of llfo that tran scends all others, more dollghtful as v,o go on In it, and moro blessod at tho end It la tho way everlast lug. Here tho Psalmist prnyt that ho way be led in such a way, and that such heart searching will tako place that he may not mlBS that way. Tho Christian will pray this prayer, Bhould pray it daily; for, conacloua of hla fellowship with .God, ho would havo It provon and would havo taken from him every thing hindering such fellowship. Dut tho sinner will pray this prayor, he must pray it. In his case, conscious ness of God aB revealed hero leads to terror bccauBO of sin and deBlre for forgiveness, acceptance and cleansing. The Christian sees how far short he la of tho glory of God and his cry ia that nothing may lnterfero with com pleto conformity, and for thlB he needs faith, Justifying and sanctifying. In addition, the sinner needs saving faith boforo ho finds his foot In the first stops of the way everlasting. Note tho steps by which tho sinner comes to this cry Search mo. Divine Omnlsclonce. God knows mo, and knows all about ino (vs. 1-C). Efvery movement, every thought, every word, every way all known to tho God with whom I have to do. He knows mo thoroughly, and as if he had examined me minutely. "Ho .knows all men, ho knows all men thoroughly, ho knows all men con stantly." This solemn truth may awaken wonder and admiration In the Christian, it may be a great comfort to him and an assurance of guldanco and well-being; but to tho sinner It is a solemn warning and a call to re pentance and faith. Tho truth of this part of tho Psalm has a beautiful parallel in the epistle to the Romans: "For of him, nnd through him, and to him are all things." God knows my down-sitting and my uprising, he com passes my path, ho has besot mo be hind and before, he is acquainted with all my ways. What can a sinner do in the presenco of such a God but to say: Search mo, . . . try mo . . . lead 'me? And God will answer his cry. There emerges another reason for tho sinner's cry: ho cannot get away from this God (vs. 7-12). God is every where, not a mero power ruling In might and by laws really outside him self, but a personality distinct, sepa rate, superior, and seeing all I do. "Thou God seest me." , This every whereneBB of God makes it a dreadful, an awful, thing to sin. "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I lleo from thy presence? Up Into heaven ... In hell . . . the uttermost parts of the sea . . . darkness Bhall cover mo . . . tho darkneBB and the light are both alike to thee." What can I hide from him, or where can I sin that ho will not see me? Yes, but this very God who knows all about us and who sees all wo do, who dwells in tho uttermost parts of tho J earth also can save to the uttermost. Thank God, ho still forgives. Search mo . . . try mo . . . lead me. I know not where Ills Islands lift Their fronded palms In air; I only know I cannot drift neyond Ills love and care. Onco more tho Psalmist sets forth a reason for his cry for searching God Is associated so intimately with bis entire life, even beforo ho him self had any consciousness. "Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being imperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in con tinuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." "I am fear fully and wonderfully made." Man is a creature according to God's design, living under God'B inspection and by God's power. Search me ... try me .. . lead me. This prayer Is natural now. If you have nevor made it there is only ono reason you never havo seen God In his holiness, power and might. When God searches ho may find In you some way of wickedness unforsakon sin, somo unyieldcd room, some unloving Eptrlt, somo selfishness but if you really will to havo It so, God will lead you In tho way everlasting, a way that Bhlncth more and more unto the perfect day. So, couple with this prayer, that other petition, "Create in mo a clean heart, O God, and renew a. right spirit within me." Lot your vital concern bo, Is my heart right with God? for with him that is tho supremo thing. Put your prayer into tho words of that heart-song: Oh. for. a heart to praise my God. heart from sin set free; A. heart that's sprinkled with Thy blood, So freely shed for mo. A heart In every thought renewed. And full of love- divine. Perfect, and rlBht, and pure, and good, A copy, Lord, of Thine. NOW that tho high colfniro is certain of bucccss, hairdressers aro evolv ing many attractive arrangements, each making its bid for popular favor. It Is certain a now order of thlnge Is coming. There Is to bo moro elab oration in styles for the coming season than for a year past, moro pretty, curls and ringlets about tho face, and tho return to a modest pompadour at tho front This is something to bo thankful for because it is immensely becoming to most women. Tho elmpler, the very plain, styles aro well enough for youthful wearors. But older women require more intri cate designs. Tho now high coiffures aro stately and a great advantago to them. Llttlo variations adapt thorn to youthful wearors like tho puff extend ing out at each sldo and covering tho ears. In all tho new styles shown so far tho ears aro' concealed, aB in those worn during tho past season. Thero aro sovoral pretty now arrangements of tho hair both at tho front and back to choose from. That showing the Psycho knot at the crown of tho head or a little higher has been most quick ly adopted, perhaps because this stylo is always good and never quite disappears. In the stylo shown hero tho hair about the forehead Is curled in short ringlots. All tho remainder of tho hair is brought up to tho top of tho head, except that portion parted off at the front to cover tho pompadour. A small hair roll or support will bo needed for tho pompadour. When tho back hair is brought up coiled loosely and pinned Into position, tho short hair roll is pinned in across the top of tho head. The ends of tho hair which are brought over tho pom padour aro fastened under tho coil nt tho top of tho head. They then aro brought down at each side and turned back near tho temples and above the puffs which cover the ears. A short fringe of hair about tho faco Is curled and pnrted nt tho middle When tho hair Is not long or thick enough it will bo necessary to use a small switch to form tho coil at tho top of the head. Vory llttlo wave appears in this colftujo, although there aro models In which a long, loose wavo Is em ployed. But tho waving of tho natural hair Ib vory natural looking, Just enough to keep It from being qulto straight and about like that which ap pears In tho Bhort Bwltch shown hero. A switch of this kind may bo used for many different styles and arranged in a braid or chignon or coil. It is tho easiest of pieces to adjust. Tho blossoms are In shades of brown and tan, merging into a pink and pinkish lavender, with tho brown tones prevailing. This coloring worn over a slip in light leather brown is very effective. Tho slip may bo mado cither of silk or mercerized mull. Tho design chosen for materials of this kind should be simple In this gown tho skirt is laid in narrow plaits at tho back near tho walsl line, to tako caro of tho llttlo fullness which must bo disposed of. It hangs straight from tho bolt, and Is split at tho bot tom of tho right sldo for a depth of IE inches. There 1b a little drapery in the skirt formed by an extension of tho goods, which is gathered into a fan and overlaps tho seam where tho skirt Is Bllt. A finish of silk or velvet ribbon In green two Inches wide is all tho dec oration needed except tho introduc tion of a bit of colored passementerie or embroidery at tho front of tho bod ico. To mako such a gown in material a yard wido takes only four yards at most. Twice tho length of tho flguro ia tho allowanco. Ab theso voIIob and challles are to bo had for from 40 to 75 cents a yard, It will bo seen tho outlay for mate rial is modest. Tho mercerized mulls aro not moro than 25 cents a yard.
