Mrs. Phillip Duffy, who arrived in
North PI at to from Washington Tues
day and was stopping at tho M.'C.
Rodgers' homo while enroute to visit
her daughter in Curtis, was found dead
in bed yesterday morning. The de
ceased was seventy-eight years of age
nnd had been in rather poor health for
Borne time. The daughter at Curtis
has been notified and it is expected the
remains will be taken to that place for
burial.

been in York this week attending the
convention of the state federation' of
women's clubs.

Cards were issued Tuesday announ
cing the coming marriage of Miss Grace

mony will occurr at the' Episcopal
church on the evening of October 22d
and the reception will follow at the
Odd Fellows' hall.
Practically the entire membership of
the COO club was present at the session
held Tuesday evening at the Bare resi
dence with Mrs. Dent and Mrs. Bare
as hostesses. The next session will be
held October 21st at the Sceberger resi
dence with Mrs. Seeberger and Mrs.
L. W. Walker ao hostesses.
The S. O. C. club Was very pleasantly
entertained Wednesday afternoon at
Kensington at the home of Mrs Guy
Cover. A nice lunch was servVoffate in
the afternoon. The guests ofi.the'club
were Mrs. J. W. Hughoy, Mrs. Ed
Clouse and Mrs. ChasJ Lierk, Jr.

Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Albert
Schatz. IShe was assisted by Mesdames
J. H. Stene and E. J. Vanderhoof.

feature and prizes were woh by Mrs.
G. B. Dent and Mrs. D. T. Quigley.

Registration Begins Sunday Night.
Judge Whitten, superintendent of
registration and drawing, will arrive in
this city this afternoon or tonight,
accompanied hy his assistants. He
will complete the preliminary arrange
ments for tho registration tomorrow,
and at 12:01 Sunday night the booths
will open nnd tho registration begin.
While thero is no advantage in regist
ering early, it generally occurs that the
greatest rush is during tho first few

has been a pronounced success, both in
the exhibits and tho attendance, while
the addresses delivered and thd enter
taining foaturcs have been above the
average. We are informe d that the
attendanco of out-of-town people has
averaged nearly 200. Today is North
Platte day and a big delegation will go
up thiB afternoon.

In the world's series tho Athle tic
ball tenm took the the first game by a
score of six to four, the Giants took tho
second 3 to nothing in ten innings, and
the Athletic tho third by a score of
eight to three. The teams play in

A Buick 31 touring car was driven from North
Platte to Kearney last Saturday afternoon. . The
speedometer registered 119.3 miles. Five gallons of
gasoline were used and one quart of cylinder oil and no
water. The trip was made in four houra and twenty
minutes. Notice that the car averaged nearly twenty
four miles to each gallon of gasoline and 119.3 miles to
ono quart of cvlindor oil and that the average speed
was over 29 miles.
