Spend the Fourth
at North Platte.
The North Platte Military Bond has
made a contract with the largest carni
val organization ontour to furnish six
toen high class attractions for the week
of June 30th to July Oth, inclusive.
The Fouith of July commltteo who
represent the Chamhor of Commerce
' have joined hands with the band boys
and tho carnival company and North
Platte will celebrate this yoar tho great
est Fourth they have evor attempted.
In addition to the flro boys having hose
races and etc., for prizes, there will be
a ball gptne, a big parade, fireworks at
' night and three free attractions will be
furnished by tho carnival company, be
sides tho committee will furnish free
lemonade at the court houso at the noon
hour'for all thoso who bring their din
nors. The amusement features of tho Rice
and Dora Water Carnival who furnish
the attractions are new to this section
of the country, in fact if you have never
witnessed the big water spectacle at the
Now York Hipp&drome, you must see
this wonderful marine entertainment.
Dozens of daring and charming young
girls flit ubout in tho water as naturally
as would tho fabled mormaids.dissapear
ing time and time again, staying under
tho water from ten to fifteen minutes
at a titno, and the back drivo from a
pedestal 11 feet high into the shallow
tank is startling. When ono sees the
the various feats performed in water,
one could bo led to think ho were sub
jected to hypnotic influence, as it does
not seem possible for ono to stay as long
under water as do theso nymphs.
Anothor attraction that will be very
interesting is tho Motordromo or tho
Death Whirl, it is said to be the most
thrilling nerve racking exhibition that
that has ever boon offered tho pub
lic. Motercyclo racing demons of inter
national reputation give demonstrations
of what terrific speed can be maintained
on n circular saucer track that stands
almost perpendicular in construction.

Crop Reports Optimistic.
Railroad freight men nro watching
tho growing crops of Nebraska's small
grain closely, noting changes in condi
tions as rapidly as they ocenr. They
look upon the next ten days aB the
most critical period for the wheat, pre
dicting that this period will tell the
story.
Relative to tho crop at this time
Frank Fowler has this to say in his
weekly report: Conditions nro ideal.
Tho hot weather of the last few days
remov.s tho only complaint on corn
and oats, for which it previously had
been too cool. The dry weather has
now given tho. farmers nn opportunity
to cultivate their corn, which is now
pertoct. ,,
There is u promise for tho largest
total crop that Nebraska has over har
vested. Tho promise is for a wheat
crop of from 50,000,000 to 55,000,000
busheU which with perfect condition
for the next few days can be swelled
to 00,000.000 to" 05,000,000 bushels, or
just as oasily.by imperfect condition.be
reduced to 35,0 00,000 to 45,000,000 bush

Tho Burlington's weekly crop report
Is fully as optimistic as any previously
issued.

Real Enjoyment
The man who takes enjoyment out of
a good cigar will do well to purchase
our brands. As n home manufacturer,
we have a reputation to maintain, and
therefore put better tobacco in our
