Indifference Shown in
Y. M. C. A. Campaign.
The Tribune regrets to announce that
but littie enthusiasm is evinced in tho
Y. M. C. A. building campaign, espec
ially by those who aro in position to
make liberal contributions. Up to date
the subscriptions aro below tho $10,000
mark. Only one $500 subscription hnB
yet been made, the others ranging from
$10 to $300.
At a meeting of tho committees last
evening an executive committee com
posed of ten bnsiness men was ap
pointed, and this latter committee will
nave general supervision of the cam
paign. Tho contributors up to last evening
numbored about eighty, and tluavorago
donation has been sixty odd dollars.
Figured in the total amount so far con
tributed is the 82,000 given by the
trustees of the Sidney Dillfon fund.
It is evident that if $40,000 is to bo
raised, a more henrty response to the
solicitor must bo. made by the men
who enn afford to give. Somo of tho
contributors, considering their menns,
havo been very liberal, others have not
given nearly as liborally as they should.
Every booy is free to offer their j moral
surport, but unfortunately moral sup
port will not erect a $40,000 building.
Band Dance.
A very enjoyablo social function of
the week was th nnnual ball held by
tho North Platto Military Band at the
Lloyd Opera House last evonine.
At 8:15 Leader Stamp and tho entire
band played the opening overturo which
was enjoyed by the largo number of
on lookers who occupied tho gallery.
A program of popular and classic pieces
followed in the concert and at nine
o'clock partners were chosen for the
first waltz. Twenty-one dances com
posed the evening's ontortainment and
woro arranged lor tho pleasure and
convenience of the dancers, the maior-
ity of which remained until the closing
notes of the "Homo Sweet Home."
Everything was systematically carried
out, thus making the ball one long to
be remembered. The band boys are to
be congratulated upon tho succossful
ness of their annual ball.
