North Platte is not represen ted in tho Omaha papers as it should; wo are behind other towns in that re spects William Griffin died nt his homd on south Locust at 5:30 this morning after being ill seyeral weeks. Mr. Griffin was formerly omployed as barber in Gandy but owing to poor health was obliged to give up his work and move here, Two years ago Mr. Griffin was taken ill tuberculosis and ho gradually became weaker. He leaves a wife, two sons ages five and three and an infant daughter. Tha funeral services will be held a't tho residence Thursday morning and the remains taken to Gandy for interrment. Thoro aro only two inmntcs in tho county jail, consequently Sheriff Salis bury will not need to proparo many turkoys' for thoir Christmas dinner. One inmate is Stephen Wells, the colored man living near Brady, who as stulted his wife. Wells made final proof on his homestead at the land office today. The other prisoner is Herbert Wiley, who attempted to "shoot up" a house in town, was arrested and placed under peace bonds. He failed to furnish tho bond is therefore confined within tho brick walls.
